Giving Sanheim a physical D partner does sound like a great idea to be honest. Sanheim seriously needs to hit a (frank)ing gym - Richieattack18
or at least hit gerbe instead of getting bull dozed from him

Him being slotted correctly on our team is a big help to him that I think folks are overlooking - ClaudeFather
Risto playing on a team with a professional coach, and can actually play hockey I think will be a huge difference maker. Risto said as much today when he said "I am the type of player that wants to play in meaningful games, I consider myself a playoff type player". Think the Flyers need this type of attitude on their team? |

The fact this fool GM gave up a first round pick for this guy is not to be believed. I'm steadfastly rooting for whoever Buffalo selects tonight at #13 for this player to be a Hall of Famer. - PLindbergh31
But because it’s the Sabres you know it won’t happen. |

Ristolainen isn’t the worst defender in the world by any stretch and has a frame that GMs covet, but how he’s used that frame during the entirety of his career has not been useful. Ristolainen has not been bad because of Buffalo – Buffalo has been bad because Ristolainen has been their most used defenceman. Moving on from him alone is great news for the Sabres." - PT21
Doesn't this bolded part point towards team coaching/management as a bigger issue here? Assuming they've watched him the whole time he's played there and they are still putting him in the wrong position and not otherwise making the team better?

Correct slotting didn't exactly help AMac and Luke Schenn not suck.

Zamula is a little like Sanheim, no matter what they do they can't bulk up. - wcorvette
He is skinnier. Saw him without a shirt and was like “that’s why he was over looked”. Haha.
Sanheim is skinny also but not like Zamula. |

Amazing they’ve so bad for so long and have hit on only what, one player in OEL |

The Sabres just owned Fletcher's face in one of the most one sided trades in a long time. |

Ristolainen/Sanheim is going to very similar to Myers/Sanheim. Ristolainen is more physical, but he's not a good defender. - PLindbergh31
this is a joke right?

Right! They got the kid who played behind Frost in the Soo, forget his name but not sure if he’s looking like a good pick. They took him really early too |

I just don’t get how some can’t be more excited for this team this year. We easily got better and addressed what needed to be addressed. |

Yep, just traded away first round picks and other assets to get better now. So now is the time to trade your #1 center for the future. Can't make it up.

There is no doubt that this team is going to be better and more fun to watch. If that's what you're looking for, then you should be happy.

When's the last time a player who sucked came here and suddenly became really good? Ville Leino?

Reading that some out there are basically asking why not just keep ghost? Umm ok. We tried to get rid of him on waivers and no takers. I think he and the team needed a change. I’ll be very interested to get Bills take on this trade. |

One saving grace of this trade might be that the 1st round pick could mean nothing in what is expected to be a franked draft.
At least thats the hope. No doubt we improved significantly. But at what cost? |

I love all the negativity towards Risto. Won’t be long until he is a a fan favourite. Just watch. |
