Not saying he’s the best player ever but every time he played us he made his presence felt. And in this case he’s going to be slotted correctly , he’s not the guy, he’s just a guy now.

I will many times defend management simply because they have access to more complete information on which to base decisions. But here I’m at a loss.

Frank the future ... I want to win a cup now! I'm sick of waiting for players that may or may not develop. Fletcher is rebuilding this team, and its so nice to be a fan watching these types of transactions associated with the Flyers again! All the while Hextall doing what he does best ... Nothing .. for our arch rivals. Does it get any better??

Well I don't know about now, it's the Summer time. But wait for the season. Have a little patience. We are now a notch above everyone, including Tampa Bay. We have the best defense in the league now. Add in a resurgence of Giroux and others, and I'm planning for the parade.

Cf said they have been looking at Ritso for 3 years. So if you think it is a mistake then you can add they made the mistake after evaluating it for 3 years. CF thinks a good D partner will help Ritso find his game, the Flyers needed size and a Physical D.

A year or so ago, folks asked opinions on Ristolainen for Gostisbehere and I said yes. Obviously, this happening on back to back days to Ghost cap dump makes it feel like a swap of 4/5 depth defenseman. Except that it is really hard to reconcile all the lost draft assets. This one definitely seems like a huge overpay. Even assuming—best case scenario—Risto is motivated, in a better slotting, greatly improved team, plays better and is extended for a reasonable 5.5 AAV for a few years…the 2 rd pick is too much added.

Yes. An UFA. He will sign a cheap one year contract and be the 7. Come in when it’s time to punch someone in the face.

Honestly, the Flyers perpetual mediocrity got me apathetic. I just can’t get excited about this team. I don’t even remember the last time I actually got pumped after a win.

Absolutely gave him away to open CAP space as he will get a big contract next year. Assuming they will follow that up with a big signing like Landeskog with all the CAP space available otherwise a trade even worse then the Risto trade.

I wonder if there is any correlation with where the team he played for finished in the standings each year since 2013 🤔

Indeed there is. It's a negative correlation. In Buffalo's favor.

For every single year except 1 of the 8 he has spent with Buffalo, His relative Corsi and relative Fenwicks are negative, often by large amounts. Last year, he was -6 in relative Fenwick. That's quite a feat.

Meaning the team has actually significantly worsened when he steps on the ice.

But hey. Fancy stats and all that.

EDIT: almost -7 when playing 5-on-5.

We discussed Myers iq before. You said he was good in that area. Many others even hockey people disagree. I think Risto had a similar issue as Myers but on a worse team. Was asked to do things and play a position he wasn’t suited for.

Like if we just had Myers as the first pair guy since we signed him. I would take Risto over Myers. It’s the price that was paid that is the issue with most.

Everyone discussed ghost as well. Just one outstanding season. Chuck tried and did move him eventually. Great return.

But we are all just posters. Not actual gms.

Impartial hockey analysts without a dog in the fight are questioning if this is the worst trade of the last decade. I mean seriously screw this franchise. So sick of the bullpoop year after year.

Giving Sanheim a physical D partner does sound like a great idea to be honest. Sanheim seriously needs to hit a (frank)ing gym

If the Flyers don't have anyone in the organization who can win a job for bottom pair or 4th line center then get rid of them now, all of them.

I'm tired of seeing the Flyers opening lineup spots only to have to sign some cheap journeyman while other teams let their young players battle for the spots.
