Non-trolling question: what are people in the know saying about Carter Hart for next year?

Any chance he's on the trading block?

- Atomic Wedgie

No way he’s on the block. We have nothing behind him in the system ready to go.

Had they kept 13th overall I wouldn’t have been totally shocked with them taking a goalie.

This D is way better then last year. No doubt. I mean last year they tried Gust, Ghost, Sanhiem, Myers and Braun on the top pairing...TOP PAIRING??! 🤦‍♂️

Ellis is Better then Provy. That top line is tough and can take on great minutes. A solid second pairing of Sanhiem and Ristolainen. And a bottom pairing the can be shielded and perform well in limited minutes in York and Braun.

Way better.

Not gonna lie. I’m gonna miss the first round pick😞

I'm curious to see if York in fact can win the #6 and the Flyers have to sign or trade for some kind of cheap #7. I just don't see York making the roster and having Zamula as the #7.

Would have rather tried moving out Brink or O'brien instead of the 13th overall. Definitely an overpay

Provy
Hayes
Ellis
Risto (extension)???
Jake
Jvr
Coots ?????
That’s probably 60% of cap.

Farabee frost sanheim etc extensions.

But why worry about it right NOW? I don't know maybe let's see 1/4 of the season first and see how everyone is playing.

York doesn't have much competition. He is way better than Braun and it isn't close. I'd say even Zamula is better than Braun. But Braun will have a roster spot still.

Soo assuming risto is resigned and no other moves where does that leave us with coots contract? And if coots resigned that’s it isn’t it there definitely would be no cap left for foreseeable future.

Unless we have a replay of moves like this year right?🤮🤮🤮

Me too, but why would they want either of them though? A player they can select on their own merit is better than the known as of right now.

The only problem is... Risto sucks at playing defense.
- Tomahawk

says who?? Tell me who on Buffalo could play defense? Don't you think the Flyers scouts and coaches know more about whether a player can play than you do? I mean, look at the players Fletcher has got rid of: Hagg, Ghost, Myers and Patrick. All of which Suck, Suck, Suck and Suck. Its not like he is trading away our best players. Fletcher is demonstrating, at least to me, that he knows what he is doing. I like Risto and like Ellis. I came into this offseason saying the Flyers needed 2 top 4 Dmen and Fletcher came through, traded some of our worst players for two very good players. That is what a good GM is supposed to do, and Fletcher has demonstrated to me he is a good GM!

Also they have $34mil in cap space right now for next season. Any of the players listed are really not a concern at the moment.

It may have cost more than we all liked but Chuck practiced what he preached and 90% of fans swore Chuck wouldn’t do a damn thing. Our defensive core is completely upgraded. One of the guys is arguably best outlet passer in the league, a massive problem we had constantly last year. The other is an absolute bruiser who beat us up plenty last year, arguably the 2nd biggest team issue. If the young forwards, Sanheim and Hart bounce back we will be very solid this year in my opinion. Chuck did a really good job bringing in 2 top 4 dmen that compliment our team now
- arichardson22

At what cost. That’s a lot of draft capital that probably could’ve been used wiser.

Gotta be honest, these prospects losing such an important year to covid raises so many questions about this draft class. A kid that might normally be 3 years away from the NHL now may be 4.

At least they know exactly what they’re getting in Risto

Not sure why fans rip Braun. He was arguably our most consistent guy last year while playing well above his pairing. He will do fine on the 3rd pair for us.

Impartial hockey analysts without a dog in the fight are questioning if this is the worst trade of the last decade. I mean seriously screw this franchise. So sick of the bullpoop year after year.

right now the option for #6 is York and Zamula I believe. The gM said he wants to resign Morin. I can also see a vet signed weeks after free agency to be a 6/7.

Hart
Sanheim
Risto
Back up goalie
That’s over half that 34 mil right there. Not accounting for coots and other ufa rfa I’m not even sure of who

We’ve been talking about draft capitol for what, 10 years-ish now? At this point we need to compete with where we are. As always, Worst case scenario we can always flip current roster guys for draft picks and collect draft capitol.

You obviously know nothing about Brink or O'Brien. These are both legitimate prospects, though I have concerns over Brink's skating. The 13th overall pick is just that, a pick that will get you another 2nd tier player. The Flyers have plenty of those players right now. Risto is a proven NHL defenseman who can play on the PK and anchor the 2nd pair. This is a good trade for the Flyers!

Zamula was really good in his callup. Wouldn't be surprised if he beat York out in camp for the last roster spot.

Morin is a UFA, not signed. I suspect he might take a veteran minimum to stay in Philly, then he and Zamula can battle it out.
