To Vancouver: Voracek, Frost
To Philly: Holtby, 2021 1st rounder
Vancouver is looking for a top 6 forward. They also get a prospect in Frost, with upside but coming over injury.
Flyers get 1 year of Holtby as a 1B goalie and a 2021 first rounder(#9) for tonight
Problem solved.
- J35Bacher
Vancouver would never do that, never. |

This is an actual metric people use?
Love me some Ristolainen. I’m assuming there is an extension in place. If so good job Chuck. He’s a solid 2nd pair guy. That’s what you hope to develop picking mid 1st anyway. - hereticpride
This is an excellent trade folks!! The Flyers were not going to get a top end stud in this draft anyway, at least not where they were picking, and its even questionable if there is a real stud in this draft class to begin with. Not too long ago many of you were posting about how tough and great Risto was a minutes eater who was a victim of a bad team. Now he sucks to some of you and not worth a 1st round pick?? You are delusional if you believe this. Risto as your anchor for the 2nd pair is a great choice, and I have no doubt he indicated he would be open to an extension, otherwise Fletcher would not have made this deal.
Fletcher is hitting a grand slam home run this off season so far and he deserves a lot of credit! Now he just needs to sign a good goalie and maybe a bottom 6 forward with jam, and this team will be right back in the thick of things. |

Play Riso, sheltered minutes. If you plan on playing him 20 a night, then these are the results you are going to get.
Since 2013, 68 defenseman have played at least 8,000 5v5 minutes. Where Rasmus Ristolainen ranks among them in:
Goals-For %: 68th
Shots-For%: 68th
Corsi-For%: 68th
Fenwick-For%: 68th
Goals-For/60: 68th
Goals-Against/60: 65th
xGF/60: 68th
xGA/60: 55th
Expected Goals-For%: 68th - ImThatGuy

It’s funny that when an offensive dman plays poor defensively, he’s worthless, but when a defensive dman plays poor defensively, it’s fine - PhillySportsGuy
Guys that can't score are always allowed more leeway.
It's more acceptable to be poor offensively AND defensively than it is to be good offensively and poor defensively |

I wonder if there is any correlation with where the team he played for finished in the standings each year since 2013 🤔 |

Oh im not denying that. But Ristolainen was very much part of the problem.
IF he turns into anything more than ill be absolutely shocked.
6 coaches have played him crazy minutes and all have gotten the same awful result from him.

They lost a first and seventh this year. a second in 2022 and 2023. So at least it's not all in one year. Still gave up more than I wanted to but at least it's spread out. - mickel25

No one here is in the know.
That said, I think everyone expects Hart to bounce back next year with what is hopefully a better defensive effort in front of him. |

Posting for the first time since Vietnam to tell everyone chill out. There could be other moves in place.
Anyone arguing the Flyers defense isn't exponentially better than last season already is a goof.
The Flyers have accumulated oodles of young talent over the last 5 years and can afford to deal away some draft picks.
This isn't an overpayment for Risto and everyone knows it. Buffalo wasn't going to accept anything less. - mochoson
This D is way better then last year. No doubt. I mean last year they tried Gust, Ghost, Sanhiem, Myers and Braun on the top pairing...TOP PAIRING??! 🤦♂️
Ellis is Better then Provy. That top line is tough and can take on great minutes. A solid second pairing of Sanhiem and Ristolainen. And a bottom pairing the can be shielded and perform well in limited minutes in York and Braun.
Way better.
Not gonna lie. I’m gonna miss the first round pick😞 |

It may have cost more than we all liked but Chuck practiced what he preached and 90% of fans swore Chuck wouldn’t do a damn thing. Our defensive core is completely upgraded. One of the guys is arguably best outlet passer in the league, a massive problem we had constantly last year. The other is an absolute bruiser who beat us up plenty last year, arguably the 2nd biggest team issue. If the young forwards, Sanheim and Hart bounce back we will be very solid this year in my opinion. Chuck did a really good job bringing in 2 top 4 dmen that compliment our team now |

Why are you worrying about Coots right now?
OMG what happens when Hart's new contract expires, what are they going to do? - Glak18
Provy
Hayes
Ellis
Risto (extension)???
Jake
Jvr
Coots ?????
That’s probably 60% of cap.
Farabee frost sanheim etc extensions.
