I object to Risto being considered a surrounding piece. For a 1st and 2nd they should've gotten a good player who isn't going to be a UFA next year.

Risto has Fletcher over a barrel when it comes to negotiating even if he is as bad for the Flyers as he was for the Sabres. You can't just throw away a 1st and 2nd and a young NHL player on a one year rental and call it C'est la vie.

I thought we are trading Sean Couturier. He should get us a first.

Again, if the season goes sideways you just move him at the deadline. He’ll get you a 1st. This just isn’t a sky is falling trade to me.

Should I run some stats for you? Do you even pay any attention to how the league views Risto? I am disappointed to see you and Hextall271 essentially join the SHOOT crowd, replacing SHOOT with HIIIIT. Y

ou want to win or you want to hit somebody? Should we bring back Jim Vandermeer?

- PT21

Did you watch the final two rounds of the playoffs? Isn’t Risto the type of player that can play that way? Or are we supposed to continue to play that soft? That softness was never going to have playoff success… I’m not saying Risto is a top pairing guy…but he is a decent top 4 and brings some things the Flyers lack. Their D is already substantially better then last year.

He's taking a lot of poop for not trading Ben for Harden doe
- Nucker101

That wasn't on Morey. The Rockets GM refused to trade Harden to the Sixers.

Awww that make you feel better about today's trade?... an article about a team with 3 cups in the last 12 years?... In all seriousness though we totally know how you feel today Rutherford made some very, very bad signings and trades the past 4 years.

Sad all flyers fans have is the alleged demise of the Pens

I know. Crims texts everyday and asks if Morey will do anything besides appear on podcasts or buy NFTs

yeah, i could see how this could be a concern. i mean, there's no way he is his own person with his own compete level or anything like that.

Their owner probably refused. And now they ended up with basically nothing to show for trading away a top 5 player

Congrats!

And yeah, I've been feeling the same way. Now I'm just here to observe the carnage.

I have no hope for this franchise anymore. Maybe G and Couts walk after this year and the team is finally forced into a true rebuild

Couldn't the FLyers have traded for Oleksiak before the trade freeze/exclusive negotiating period for Seattle started?

They did something similar for Kevin Hayes and it cost a 5th round pick to do so.

So the FLyers could have saved the 1st and 2nd.

- Captain_Ahab

I know people don't want to believe it, but Oleksiak is not better than Risto.

Just comical. So fans here over last week were totally against giving up a 1st in order to move Jake and clear 8.25M in cap space which we could have used to sign Hamilton but giving up that same first and Hagg and a 2nd for 1 yr of Risto a questionable 2nd pair Dman is good???....So in total we gave up Ghost..two 2nds..a 7th and a 1st round pick for Risto.....WOW!!!

Come on man! We are not in a POSITION to say, ah (frank) it we can go for upgrades without any eye to what cost to future is. Teams knocking at the door do that kind of calculation.

You gave up a 1st for a guy who on many teams would play bottom pairing D. And you did it for a team that finished way out of playoff position this year.

Think about this for a minute.

- PT21

You do realize that owndership brought chuck in to take action and blow up Hextalls draft and wait plan right?

Any thought that risto may be better on a better team with less minutes? It seems like you are in overreaction mode. I put a lot of stock in what Bill says as he’s very knowledgeable and he doesn’t seem to be running to bridge looking to jump.

You want to be physical and not dense man. If you have a guy like that in your top 4, you aren't going to the last 4.

Risto is a guy who reminds me of Dan Carcillo.

I wonder how Sanheim feels about this.

IF York proves himself. If. If York shows he’s ready for 2nd pairing minutes over this year, then you gotta think one of these three is gone in a year, right? Sanheim can play either side, so that helps, but one of those guys will have to be a 3rd pairing, or more likely, will leave.

Considering Risto is on a contract year, this is a hot poker in the ass of all three of them, because that top line is going nowhere

Too much for Rasmus. Too much. Two 2nds would’ve done it.
