Great. I hope you guys have one of the best #4 defensemen in the league for the next 5 years. Thanks for the first.
If its a win-win....great....it wasn't working for him here.
Good luck - Blockhead
To be fair...no one is working in Buffalo. |

So just so I know....we are upset we gave up draft picks. Not players. But picks. Our worry today is about picks...not about making the team better? - J35Bacher
This. We didn’t even give up current prospects.
Whoever they picked 13th was probably at least 3 years from making an impact. You have a vet core. You need to give them the surrounding pieces for once. |

Btw, where you hiding out these days? And did you take Mononoke and AllInForFlyers with you? - Tomahawk
Life happened. Kids, new job that requires me to actually work.
Honestly, the Flyers perpetual mediocrity got me apathetic. I just can’t get excited about this team. I don’t even remember the last time I actually got pumped after a win. |

I feel like they have to with the price they just paid. |

Couldn't the FLyers have traded for Oleksiak before the trade freeze/exclusive negotiating period for Seattle started?
They did something similar for Kevin Hayes and it cost a 5th round pick to do so.
So the FLyers could have saved the 1st and 2nd.

One concern I have is coming from a losing leaderless team then having Captain Comfortable and Jake welcome you to the country club isnt ideal. |

Part of the problem with some analytics is how the player is used by his coaches and what positions he is put in….Risto is a pretty polarizing player….he’ll fit in awesome here on the Bill’s Blog’s discussion board. - landros 2
Dude some of those analytics show he was worse for the team he was on. Explain that to me.

Fletcher went to the Bill O'Brien school of GMing. A 1st and a 2nd for a guy on the final year of his contract in a rebuilding year. That's alot for a 1 yr rental when the Flyers are not even favored to make the playoffs and could use talented cheap labor on rookie contracts.
There is no way Fletcher, if he is still the GM this time next year, can let Risto walk without it being a total disaster. That's assuming that Risto even significantly improves the Defense.

How many 40+ point seasons has Ghost had? I know he had that one fluky 65 pointer. - Glak18
If he played this nasty in front of his own net or in his own zone we wouldn’t of traded him….and we sure wouldn’t of had to offer a 2nd and a 7th to get rid of him….different players. |

I was waiting to share this until the right time, this should make most of us feel a little better.

Awww that make you feel better about today's trade?... an article about a team with 3 cups in the last 12 years?... In all seriousness though we totally know how you feel today Rutherford made some very, very bad signings and trades the past 4 years. |

If it doesn’t work out this year he can move him at the deadline. I can’t imagine he plays poorly and gets and extension. |

Lillard or bust for the Sixers. They’re doing Joel dirty if they don’t ship Ben out. |

I object to Risto being considered a surrounding piece. For a 1st and 2nd they should've gotten a good player who isn't going to be a UFA next year.
Risto has Fletcher over a barrel when it comes to negotiating even if he is as bad for the Flyers as he was for the Sabres. You can't just throw away a 1st and 2nd and a young NHL player on a one year rental and call it C'est la vie.
