It’s safe to say Carter Hart won’t be getting any late sticks after a whistle between Risto and Ellis |

Decent bottom pairing defenseman provided he isn't asked to do too much. Physical. - mkabbeko Thanks- I would lay our what you are getting in Risto but you know. Plays hard every game- I can say that.

Maybe Risto sucks as bad as Ghost, but one thing I do know is everyone looks like crap playing for Buffalo. Only franchise in worse shambles than the Flyers currently and the only team that can make a franchise center look worthless. |

Yeah there has to be more....right?
The 1st rounder has me mad, but I can see Risto getting a 1st at the TDL, but adding the 2nd was super overkill without a contract after this year. If they can re-sign him for under 6m then ok, more than Fletcher needs to go.
Currently there is no question the team is waaaay better. It's not going to cost 10m to re-sign Sanheim/Hart and they are not signing a 4-5m backup goalie anyway so the cap is fine right now. The cost was high, but at least they got rid of deadweight in Ghost and don't have to send him to the minors and Hagg has been easily replaced. - Glak18
Not quite sure about 10 mil, but it may be close.
Sanheim 4.5
Hart 3.5
Backup 1.5
That is close enough IMO...
Im certainlly worried.
And what will Risto Coots, and Giroux get? Will Risto take a paycut from his current cap hit?

Came over to just say my apologies. Been waiting to get rid of Risto for years. Man there are just some GM’s that are still in love with size in the NHL.
You will love him the first 10 games. Then every puck will be off the boards to the opposing team after that. Maybe with a better team around him he will be better. One can hope.
Oh yes and dont look at any advanced stats. It wont help |

Vancouver wants a top 6 forward. Is there a move there for Voracek.
I mean I just can't get pissed about moving picks for a player to help this team. I want to watch my team compete and try to win. |

All 4 guys they have moved out didn’t play good last year on a team that didn’t play good. I like Ellis, and after watching Risto against the Flyers last year I hope that’s the guy we are getting….just adding those two makes it a tougher team to play against. I hoped Fletch could make some some substantial moves….and up till now he hasn’t disappointed. - landros 2
You just saw him play against the Flyers and he pushed a vanilla team around so he is good? Is this like the Max Talbot hiring? The Jody Shelley hiring?
Do you realize we just gave up a first for a D-man who would probably rank like the 80th best D-man in the league right now? And took on a largish contract?
Whats happening guys? I thought getting butt-(frank)ed by Mika Z and the blueshirts was good enough for a season? Want to relive the memory? |

I have Sanheim at Carlo (maybe a shy under) and Hart at around 2.3-2.5 for 2 yrs. |

You guys scored on Ellis and gave a little much for Risto...
But your backend is better today than a week ago and much nastier, that is for damn sure. Not a bad week all things considered. |

A possible silver lining: Re-sign Morin and make him and Risto fight it out over #55 jersey!!! |

It drives me nuts. We over value our own players and u der value everyone else. The same people complaining about this move would be whining if Fletch did nothing. Franking morons. - section32
At the end of the day I see it this way. They had to take some sort of action. The team regressed last year and has won 1 series since 2012. That’s insane. Chuck said he’d be active and he has been. I’m not sure this will turn out but what I’ve seen of risto is that he’s physical and tough to play against. How many (frank)ing times last year were we standing around like pixies as teams like the rangers potted numerous. Read 9 goals etc. I hope slotted properly he can make us at minimum a harder team to play against and show some snarl.
As well, you have to give to get. We’ve jettisoned 2 good prospects and a 1st in a weak draft. A lot of youth is still here. The only loss I really didn’t like was Myers. Patrick had leaked he wanted out and we were basically bent over a barrel lol by him. If we re sign risto for a few years then it’s good imo. |

Ristolainen, at least he wont be hammering our guys anymore. Every game he drilled the Flyers. - wcorvette
Every game last season I thought to myself that he'd be good for the Flyers.

Gee, Fletcher, you could have signed Oleksiak and kept those draft picks and he's even cheaper than Rasmus.
Seriously, if Rasmus that much better than Oleksiak? |

The team is better on the back end. And not one trade involved, Konecny, Farabee, York, Zamula, Foerester, Wisdom. It was just picks.
I know they moved Patrick and Myers but both guys seemed a little lost last year and Patrick just needed a change.
