This is 1st round pick for Steve Eminger level bad.
Taken in a vacuum, yes the team is better. But a 1st round pick for a guy who will be a UFA is too much. Right back in to cap hell.
There HAS to be something else going on. - MBFlyerfan
Yeah there has to be more....right?
The 1st rounder has me mad, but I can see Risto getting a 1st at the TDL, but adding the 2nd was super overkill without a contract after this year. If they can re-sign him for under 6m then ok, more than Fletcher needs to go.
Currently there is no question the team is waaaay better. It's not going to cost 10m to re-sign Sanheim/Hart and they are not signing a 4-5m backup goalie anyway so the cap is fine right now. The cost was high, but at least they got rid of deadweight in Ghost and don't have to send him to the minors and Hagg has been easily replaced.

Everyone saw this teamās defense last year.
You canāt keep the vets in place and keep kicking the can down the road. At least Fletch is trying to build a team that can win instead of this half-hearted rebuild poop Hextall was peddling. - hereticpride
The only problem is... Risto sucks at playing defense. |

The defense is very much improved than when the season ended. Not debatable. The team is better. Not debatable.
The GM does not care about future draft choices ti an extent as he may not be here in 3 years. His job is to improve the team now. All the whiners about draft choices out in full force.
He better pray Hart is the real deal or close to it. Otherwise means squat. |

Ristolainen, at least he wont be hammering our guys anymore. Every game he drilled the Flyers.
So he averages 24 minutes a night and played on a terrible team. Lets hope with slightly less minutes and a better team he has more upside. Don't like it but it is what it is now.
you might as well get Tarasenko, really piss of the fan base and just go for it.
Actually get Reinhart as long as the seat is still warm with Buff |

I trust Flahr will find value in this draft regardless of how many picks the Flyers ultimately have/use.
This was a strange year where lots of prospects didn't play much. There's likely little consensus among teams overall draft boards. There will be big talent that slips into the 2nd-4th rounds IMO. |

Terrible trade, Ristolainen is mediocre at best.
This team is a disaster - BiggE
But on a terrible team. Maybe as a second pair with what hopefully is a better squad heāll be better? Buffalo was especially bad from head to toe. I wouldnāt think it was all on him. |

if he is they will be holding 50% and getting nothing back, well he is worth 4.5 per over 3 years, maybe the Flyers can get one of their 2nd's back |

Please. All the arm chair gms would have gotten Eichel added to the package. Its funny. Everyone wants them to be better but not have to give anything up to get better. - J35Bacher
It drives me nuts. We over value our own players and u der value everyone else. The same people complaining about this move would be whining if Fletch did nothing. Franking morons. |

It was an overpayment, but I am fine with it also since 13OA wasnāt going to help our team now or very near future. Better hope Risto resigns though. If he doesnāt resign worst case Chuck can trade at this year deadline I suppose |

All 4 guys they have moved out didnāt play good last year on a team that didnāt play good. I like Ellis, and after watching Risto against the Flyers last year I hope thatās the guy we are gettingā¦.just adding those two makes it a tougher team to play against. I hoped Fletch could make some some substantial movesā¦.and up till now he hasnāt disappointed. |

Not sure they have the draft picks to get rid of him, maybe retaining salary will be enough. Voracek at 4-5m is a great deal. |

This.
It was either this or full scale rebuild. Iād have preferred the rebuild. But either option is a million times better than settling for mediocrity at the NHL level which was basically the way Hextall ran things. |

Yeah. I canāt see him playing 24 mins a night here. Maybe if heās slotted correctly he will perform better. Novel idea I know.
