Well, I think the D mix is much better now, I think the D will be solid but a 1st plus...
The team is better, still not a contender. If you are going to move Ghost and your 1st, plus you better have being a contender in mind. Do I believe another team would have given up a 1st? I do but is about the Flyers not the other teams.
If this is it then CF overplayed his hand. If he is still going to address the O side, I will wait and see.
All of us asked for a partner for Provy, we all wanted a tough D, well we got it. - wcorvette
Giroux on a home before that pick eventually had a impact. Theoretically |

This could be the worst trade I am aware of involving the Flyers recently. Mind-boggling. Simply mind-boggling. They have up a high 1st for a 2nd pairing D who is essentially Gudas+? - PT21
13th is a high 1st?
I don’t like giving up two picks but if they’re trying to win with G they might as well start seriously addressing needs. Clocks ticking. |

From Pro Hockey Rumors. Just going to leave this here:
Ristolainen, 26, has just one year remaining on his contract and carries a $5.4MM cap hit. Though he brings the mix of six–Ristolainen stands 6’4″–and offensive upside that teams covet, he has also been routinely derided by more analytical measures. Even in some of the traditional stats like +/-, Ristolainen’s overall impact on the game has been poor, registering a whopping -163 over his 542-game NHL career. That entire career has been spent in Buffalo, where things haven’t gone well since he made his debut 2013, but at least part of that failure has to fall at the feet of Ristolainen, who has averaged nearly 24 minutes a night throughout his career. |

So the Flyers are already out of this year's first round, next year's second round, and the following year's second round.
After this season's trade deadline they won't have any picks in the first three rounds for the next three seasons. - StepfordSam
and we're no where near good enough to win the cup |

Everyone saw this team’s defense last year.
You can’t keep the vets in place and keep kicking the can down the road. At least Fletch is trying to build a team that can win instead of this half-hearted rebuild poop Hextall was peddling. - hereticpride
rasmus Ristolainen is probably the worst of the three defensemen involved in flyers trades the past two days. |

Feels like an overpay. Like could we have added a prospect and pulled Risto and Reinhart from Buffalo...feels like that would have made more sense. |

Agreed. Hopefully more to come. Although it’s tough to move decent assets, it’s about the mix. He’s added two legit top 4 d man and moved out some pieces that didn’t fit.

Please. All the arm chair gms would have gotten Eichel added to the package. Its funny. Everyone wants them to be better but not have to give anything up to get better.

Don’t love that we sent out the 13 pick but i guess we knew that we’d have to pay to get another dman. I like risto s game but didn’t realize he’s a ufa next year. They’ll have to push hard for an extension.
D should be better this year in front of hart though.
I still see a Jake trade coming. He started with fixing the d and wel see about forwards. So we’re def out on UFAs now I’d say. |

Have you been on crack the past 2 days? You think this team that would have finished in the bottom 7-8 last season will suddenly win with Giroux with Ellis and Risto on the right side? |

Posting for the first time since Vietnam to tell everyone chill out. There could be other moves in place.
Anyone arguing the Flyers defense isn't exponentially better than last season already is a goof.
The Flyers have accumulated oodles of young talent over the last 5 years and can afford to deal away some draft picks.
This isn't an overpayment for Risto and everyone knows it. Buffalo wasn't going to accept anything less.

Yeah. We’ve all also heard that it’s not a strong draft and no one knows what you’re getting at mod or lower picks in the first round. |

I’m certainly not panicked. Very interested to see how this shakes out. Trade Jake for tarasenko and call it a day. You have to be glad we didn’t give up frost tk York ..
