BRUTAL. I cannot believe they (frank)ing drafted that kid. Absolutely unreal. Especially after everything that is going on with the Blackhawks, and Bergevin was part of their staff at that time. Unreal - vlongo4419
They must not have gotten the news in French over there. What a (frank)ing mistake. |

Seems like a lot of very promising players are gonna be available into the second round. More than a little disappointing that we’ll not get a chance with any of them because of the great Gusev experiment.
But still psyched about Luke, and the immediate pressure he put on Quinn to join his brothers. It was infinitely more important that they get that pick right. |

True, cannot eff up the fourth pick. But the Devs have such limited options. They cannot sign big free agents because we are NJ not NY. So cannot afford to screw up the draft. And yet we keep doing it. Franchise is doomed until we get a functional GM. What a waste of a second half to the night. |

I don’t get it. What’s all this about?
If drafting Luke helps us get Quinn at maybe a mill cheaper per season, or at all really.. what a win that would be.
Imagine..
Hughes-Hughes
Graves-Smith
Russian-Severson
Quite the top 6 lol. Ah never mind.. they’re both lefties. Hmm..
I do wonder how good Eklund and Guenther will be. Coyotes did quite well thanks to Vancouver. |

He's undergoing criminal investigation in Sweden for spreading a picture of a girl he had sex with without her consent. He also made a public statement for teams not to draft him because of this. And Bergevin was part of the Blackhawks during the alleged sexual abuse scandal that has come to light recently. It's just a terrible look for everybody involved. |

So we went with Luke Hughes. Maybe it helps us sign Quinn someday.. except they both play the left side, as does Graves who we just got from Colorado. Leaves zero room for anyone else in the pipeline.. let alone Seigenthaler. Meh. Right side would be decent with Severson and moving Smith to right where he played in college. If we manage to get Dougie we just won’t have cap room for Quinn.. plus giving big money to Jack, eventually (hopefully) Holtz and Foote.. just won’t be enough cap room to make all that happen. Plus Meier, if we manage that. |

Quinn is not coming here, hes trying to get a long term extension lol. And if he ever does it wont be any time soon, so the defense will look completely different. Zero reason to even think trying go fit him in |

Last year we had a reach with the Russian D but he had a higher ceiling and he looked like a better pick until he got injured
I just don't see that with this reach who seems will be nothing more than a 4th liner

Yeah pretty much. The only difference is there was pretty much a full season of play last year to view players compared to only a handful of games this year, so i think that makes last year's pick worse. The OHL didn't play this year so its a small sample size but Stillmans U18s this year was a major step up from his league play last season, so i'll hold off on judgement until after this upcoming OHL season.
It seems like his floor is pretty high, he should be a 4th liner in the NHL but idk how much higher his ceiling is, im assuming management thinks there is better offensive ability in him. I guess the hope is he turns into a Blake Coleman-type(or maybe a Bastian-type?) because thats the type of game he plays. |

Nevermind. Looks like a plug that racks up a bunch of PIMs and not many points. We drafted a small goon.
16 points 43 PIM in Denmark. 34 points 63 PIM in the OHL. - smellmyfinger

It really is nothing against Stillman. It is all about was he worthy at that point in the draft. Clearly everything I have since read about him says "NO". There were MUCH better options at this point. Just poor asset management. Fitz and Castron, two years in a row with a surprise pick. Perhaps trying to look smart and smooth with the picks, but better to trade back and get them closer to where they belong. Oh well, nothing to do now.
Here is the synopsis that was in similar of the write-ups of Stilllman:
The main drawback is his footspeed. In a sentence, Stillman projects to play fourth-line minutes, but may not have enough skill or speed to stick in a lineup.
Just what the Devils need, another fourth line player. |

I didn't mind the Shak pick because his pedigree indicated he might be undervalued at his ranking. Nothing about what Stillman has done indicates he's worth a 1st round pick. |

So he’s like Bastian except slower. Great.

Similar to last year when the Rags jumped in front of us, I believe Fitz got robbed again, Nashville moved up to take L'Heureux. If that were the case, nothing was learned last year. I also was hoping that Olausson made it to us. Both gone right before we picked (and I thought we were trading this pick for more current help). That sequence of events probably had me as frustrated with the eventual pick. Again hope Stillman turns out well, just a frustrating pick at that point. |

Question: Drysdale, Sanderson, or Hughes?
Dougie is loving these contracts for Makar and Jones. I’d imagine we now have to expect 9mil per for him. Surprised these guys are getting so much coming out of a Covid year. Both Jones and Makar are a mil over what I thought they’d get. |

If we can sign Hamilton you do it and worry about it later, instantly our #1 and a top defender
Not going to happen but we should at least try |

Drysdale>Hughes>=Sanderson
It was going to take us in the 9-10M range to get Dougie anyway, none of these signings change that. It may actually help us get a lower number because i'd bet 90% of NHL GMs think Jones is better |

Can’t wait to sign him for 12mil and still pick in the top 5 next draft. |
