Maybe he wanted to take a look at sam, while being employed as the Sabres gm?

Maybe ralph made the decision?

There's a reason sam went year to year, and maybe Adams wanted to see sam play center before signing him longterm?

- Boss34

This is the exact way you handle RFAs in my opinion. You don’t sign them to a deal that takes them to UFA. No leverage. They still control him to work out long term contract or trade him to a team he is willing to work out a long term contract with. The only problem with doing it this is it could cost you more money. Like Dak Prescott. Money isn’t the reason why the Sabres are in trouble in this situation.

May be a while still, hopefully the return will be better then what we have been hearing so far.

This is so confusing, is he traded or not. Isn't the grind part of trying to make a deal?

I’d rather have KA be more of a Darcy then the ones that have been in between the two.

You want the top end talent on the team? Pay up mother fvcker(Sam Jackson voice)!

If your 1st born isn’t on the table? I’m not interested in the afterbirth.

Reinhart deal is crazy. Dude is worth lots, no way he got such minimal return. They need cap space, something has to give here. Even 3 more ok pieces is not enough. Hmmm.

Give me Raty with that 2nd round pick. Unless the sabres know something and thats why Raty dropped so far and in that case take Pinelli

Raty was top 5 before the season started

Be prepared to be disappointed on the Reinhart return

With what Buchnevich got for the Rangers really put the teams with RFAs behind the 8 ball

Reinhart is a 1st in 2022?

Unfortunately this team will be 15 years without a playoff spot before we make it. Its going to be another 3 years before this team can compete.

Was expecting NHL ready prospects.

It is a very underwhelming return, but the whole RFA thing is playing into this a lot.

Then why not take cap back to help combat that?

No different that Jones situation. Let Florida negotiate a contract to get a better retun.

Reinhart was an east 1st and a top prospect at the trade deadline. Teams love those kind of adds for the playoffs.

Jones was actually under contract for this coming season...

Sam is not as it currently stands, and as we saw earlier RHD are bringing a lot in a trade and RFA's were not

Same reason the Rangers only got a 2nd rounder for Buchnevich?

Reinhart may have shared he is set on becoming a UFA and is unwilling to sign an extension.

Very large difference is the Rangers are not in a position to take cap back with what they're trying to do while that should not be a problem for the Sabres, unless ownership is being super cheap.

There are rumors that a player of significance is coming back as well...who knows until it's official

If that's the return, Adams might have been better off waiting until the trade deadline.

I agree, it just doesn't seem like the return is going to be great.

Sam must have really said I am not signing my RFA tender or something serious about not playing.

But, let's wait to see what the whole return is
