The whole reason to change the name was to get rid of the Native American imagery. But calling them the Cleveland Americans and re-branding the logo into not a racist caricature, and hiring a Native American graphic designer to design an appropriate image would have probably been an acceptable move.

Native Americans are still 'Americans'.

As far as the Washington Football team goes, I hope they keep that as their name going forward. I love it.
