Sam Cosentino on GR says Power is the clear cut #1 prospect.

There’s no way they pass on him

- sbroads24

I think we'd all be shocked if they didn't pick him at #1.

Seems like a lot of second round talent
- Powerslave

The problem with this draft may not be the talent. If you check birth dates you will see that, except for Hughes, all the top 10 picks are Oct/Nov/Dec and other early birthdays.

In the second half of the scouting season, it is the younger kids with late birthdays that make the dramatic climbs up the rankings.

There was not anywhere close to a decent major junior season for the scouts to find the late climbers. Last year Sanderson (a very young draft eligible) rocketed up to #5 on draft day.

A team that trades down and gets multiple 2nd round picks might be well rewarded.

I would also be a little shy of the depth of the Michigan hype. When you supposedly have that much talent and don't win...it may be telling you something. I do like Power at #1, especially off his World tournament.

I'll be disappointed too if we only end up w Power, but there's still plenty of time to do things. I'm not going into tonight with the mindset of 3 trades or bust, but I know many are and this place will truly be unbearable later if they don't make a deal.
- Powerslave

They could end up with Power, Beniers, Eklund, Zegras and Drysdale and the fans will still be mad.

Hey Spatso, its funny, all the expert posters in here say this draft is going to be a crap shoot because of video scouting, but are certain next year's draft is loaded because of video scouting. Is it me or does this draft remind you of 2014? That turned out to be an epic 1st round that nobody knew about at the time. Just like this one will be.

My younger son is going to St Andrews university in Scotland so I’ll be playing the old course, the new course and probably a couple of other course in less than a month.

That's a little harsh, as most of the "talent" was all freshman playing against guys much older generally. And they lost in OT in the B1G semis against a pretty stout Minnesota squad if I'm not mistaken. Didn't get to play in the NCAAs due to COVID.

IDK about epic, there are two stars (a 3rd in Point) from the first round. It sure did fill out with good role players and depth though, more than what was expected.

That’s why I have doubts about how high the ceilings are for a lot of the guys in the top 10.

They are old for their draft class but had very average seasons.

Like Rossi was old for his draft class but had one of the best statistical seasons in the OHL this century.

Power didn’t come close to Weresnki, Hughes, McAvoy point productions on a much better team
