They didn't have side deals, so they're hoping one or more of those guys pull a Wild Bill. poop, their other side deal with Fla got them 2 of their top line in Marchessualt and Reilly Smith who was solid up until this year. This. The Knights are the luckiest expansion franchise in NHL history. They got lucky with more restrictions being put on the number of players teams can protect, lucky that Pittsburgh decided to expose MAF, lucky that they were able to swing a trade with Florida for Marchessault (a 30 goal scorer, by the way) and lucky that William Karlsson went from being a nobody to a 46-goal scorer in his first year on their top line.
