Changing the name doesn’t hurt anyone. Too bad they had that stupid caricature of the the Native Indian, the name itself wasn’t a big problem but to me that dumb cartoon character was the biggest problem. - paulr
I'd have gone with Spiders. |

exactly....zero details. just screen shots of tweets, but of course....reported there first......
Draft...I don't care...I don't know much about non drafted prospects so defer to those who do, really go by what the main sites are saying. I am all for best available..... - SteveRain
Like a 4th grade patchwork project. The clickbait that people stoop to.
I understand. I read reports & take part in the guessing. I agree, bpa. I trust Kelley & Bowman to do that. |

Well no one has to worry any more per Eklund
"Hawks and Jackets at Impasse over Seth Jones
Word is Columbus is currently standing pat on asking price of either Alex DeBrincat or Kirby Dach. The Jones situation will be interesting to follow today. Colorado still the favorite, but it is possible that the NY Rangers get involved should they back off of the Eichel plans.

Ha! and everyone else is saying that CBUS has backed off of requiring either of those two. Whatever. It's all fun and games until a trade is actually made. |

Agreed and if people on this site were so good, their opinions wouldn't be read by folks on a blog. They'd be employed by an actual team.
Goalie, defensemen, center, wing....dont' care.....just as long as said player becomes a vital part of the team in the next upcoming years. Can't whiff on 1st round picks. Especially in a cap world....and especially when you spend up to the cap ceiling. |

I’ve posted this story before, so bear with me if you’ve heard it. My daughter worked on a remote native community on the western shore of James Bay 1,200 miles north of Toronto. The natives there felt the name Redskins and the caricature of the Cleveland Indian was disrespectful of their culture. They had no problem with the Blackhawk logo as they felt it portrayed the Natives respectively. In fact all hockey and baseball teams in the community used the logo on their jerseys. So changing the name hurts no one and shows respect to the indigenous people, I don’t see that as a bad thing, do you?

I've read that one before, but it is worth reading again. I agree with the Redskin renaming and losing Chief Wahoo. |

I'm not on the Twitter box and have no idea who this guy is.
So if a deal is reached is there a presser before the draft or does the NHL tell the teams to save it for a dramatic scene during the draft?
I think since the Kraken let everyone down with no side deals I think they tell them to save it. |

Agreed and that story always cements what I had thought. The Blackhawks logo wasn't as offensive or offensive at all compared to a name like "redskins" or the Chief Wahoo.
Sadly, I still think we will the focus ramp up on teams like the Hawks and FSU Seminoles. |

Whoa Rota, that's huge. I don't know who Mark Scheig is but good deal that pick that nabs Sillinger is the Hawks pick. |

I just don't see what leverage Columbus has.... Jones is gone after this year and Columbus won't get anything. The Hawks can just tell Columbus to go f-off.
I don't see how the Avs have cap room to sign Jones either (I know they have 28 mil or something) but.... they have no goalie, half their forwards are FA and they need to pay Makar. Saad, Landeskog, and Kadri all FA. That is half of their top 6.
Plus their back-end is awfully crowded. E. Johnson, Devon Toews, Makar, Byram Bowen, and Samuel Girard.
I don't see how Jones makes them any better over the next 3-5 years or why they would feel the need to acquire him. |
