Yeah, Stanbo's going all in to save his job. Another non-playoff year, coupled with the scandal, will be it for him. Hopefully.

Another thing that bothered me when the ran Shovel Face off and restructured the front office. They extended StanBow as GM AND made him the boss to oversee his own self on the hockey ops side.

Jarmo is like Stevie Y in that they are patient. That's how they get the better end of deals............ Jarmo has no leverage, none. He has a kid who wants out and will accept to 2-3 teams and StanBow gives up that second 1st.

Have to think if he was patient like he was with Holland he still has next yrs #1.

Just because a team had two good D-men, doesn't mean he isn't a #1. The extension is a bit of an overpay, but Jones is better than anyone we had and very likely already better than anyone we had in the system was going to be. I'm not going to complain about a guy who was playing a full season in the NHL at 19 on Defense and didn't look out of place.

If you wanted the Hawks totally committed to a rebuild, it was long ago time to move on from Kane and Toews and crater for top picks in the draft. How well do you think that would have gone over? You only get one pick per year which means a very lengthy process with no guarantees unless a Fleury, Crosby and Malkin turn up in consecutive years.

Successful build thru trades and FA - try the Avs - Grubauer, Toews, Saad, Nichuskin, Burakovsky and probably a few others. The Canadiens made some opportunistic trades and signings too.

The Hawks aren't rebuilding no matter what fans here believe. Rebuilding is what Detroit is doing and its taking a f'n long time.

I had hoped the hawks weren’t able to acquire Jones and would continue rebuilding deliberately. While I don’t think Jones is a number one defender and will more of the cap than the value he brings, let’s hope I’m wrong and he’s as good as some believe he is. Let’s also hope Bowman finds a way to get a first round pick next year. Let’s also hope Bowman had the foresight to protect the pick if the hawks are in a lottery position because should the hawks position get the first overall ……

flip flopped 1sts this year.....

I don't hate it......i get others do, but I was never high on boqvist. They kept Dach, DeBrincat, Suter, Reichel, Kurashev and only gave up 1 asset in Boqvist.

To think they weren't going after a top tiered d man I guess IMO was naive based on everything we read the last month, and read from Bowman's mouth yesterday.....I would rather have Jones than Hamilton.

Time wil tell on development as far as Dach and some kids on defense now and in the pipeline. Could become a very strong defense. Strong offensively and defensively

Right now next year the defensemen are: S Jones, Murphy, Kalynuk. Then who knows how the other dmen could fit. Mitchell development, Zadorov stays, deHahn healthy, Beaudin good enough.

Mitchell comes along nicely would be a boost. I am actually more hopeful to see Phillips develop over Regula. I need to see Regula skate better. Too far away presently but one year later both Vlasic and Kaiser could turn professional
