Oh, well, the 6th changes everything.
Its a terrible trade and 2 weeks of watching Jones every game will make believers ou of everyone - Elbows15
If you're right I will say it. We will see. Bowman is banking on Beaudin Mitchell and Kalynuk as well.... |

Kept Strome, Reichel, Dach, Debrincat. Happy about the last 2, but does Stan find a taker for Strome/de Haan?
9.5 is a tough pill to swallow for sure to 8 years. But Hawks have not had a player like Jones for a while. |

I wish bowman would have traded for Leddy, just to trade him away again. Trading Leddy is true happiness.
Also, doesn't "Guardians" sound like it would be a knock-off brand of adult diapers only sold at Walmart? |

Boqvist no big loss IMO. Maybe he develops into a 2nd pair guy but has been injury prone and no guarantee he stays healthy enough to play 82 games a season.
As for lamenting 1st round pucks traded away this isn't the NFL where 1st rounders are expected to make an immediate impact. Say the Hawks drafted Lucius this year. Say three years at U of Minnesota and a year in the AHL. He'd be contributing in the 26-27 season. Next year's 1st round pick probably a contributer a year later.
Doubt if Stan is done with moves this summer to improve the team.. |

Does anyone know if 2022 1st is lottery protected say top 5 because that we will be picking for the next 5 years. |

The Blackhawks will have three of the top 15 cap hits in the league in 2022-23.

Only we aren’t getting a guy to contribute in the 26-27 season, or the year after.

Hopefully. Would suck to watch the Jackets draft Shane Wright first overall next year if somehow we got the first.

If in a covid flat cap they added a star fit him in....
good pipeline of defenders around him and he is hungry to win in the future.

A couple yrs I'll get my answer but I believe today if they drafted Dobson instead of Boqvist they aren't forced into this deal and the natural progression of a proper on the fly rebuild would have been allowed to play itself out. Proper timing.
Instead they get a solid 2-3 Dman with a big hit that costs them the 11th and a 2nd rd pick (a solid prospect in a Sillinger, Lucius or a possible franchise goalie) this yr and probably a top 15 pick next yr that if done correctly they add to the pipeline.
Very well will be the Hawks are better next yr and worse in 2-3-4 yrs than they would have been. ......... Keep the 11th and the 2nd rounder this yr, the 1st rd pick next yr and if you wanna go get a 10-11 mil UFA Dman in 2 yrs that's cool.
I think it has a better chance than not of hurting the squad 3-4-5 yrs out than not and Jones for sure is not the missing piece to a deep playoff run next yr. If he was maybe make this deal. This deal is for the Rados of the world, 1 piece from the cup.
In one sentence someone here said "this isn't what rebuilding clubs do". Indeed. |

Looking like we’re sending them 2 1st round picks + 1 2nd rounder…and Boqvist. - SimpleJack
If it comes with an NMC or NTC, then I'm going to scream and agree that Stan should be fired.
Guessing this will be the final test for StanBo and JC - if Seth has a bad year, then I can see them both going. |

Rebuilding teams should not be in the business of trading first round picks. If Stan added a second 1st round pick, that is inexcusable IMO. - Ogilthorpe2
Yes, I would like him to be asked if our strategy has shifted from rebuild through draft picks to rebuilding through acquisition. Because otherwise giving up the former to get the latter is self-defeating. |
|

So what made Bowman all of sudden think the rebuild was over. 9.5 in flat cap . I don't know how good Jones is but is he enough to make Hawks a playoff team next year . I doubt it .
We are most likely a lottery team next year yikes. We finally get out from under the cap hell n Bowman puts us back in it.
Hope I'm wrong but this looks like another Bowman crap trade |

That pipeline better be really good, because unless Stan has more tricks up his sleeve, there’s going to be a big gap in that pipeline for the next couple of years. |

This year's draft is questionable at best. However next year's draft is loaded and if that is not a lottery protected pick it is absurdly dangerous to give it up in an organization that isn't immediate contender. |
