what did his analytics show prior to last year? Curious to see that...... - SteveRain
Not bad in fact pretty good overall. Nice shot share although he usually starts 55% in the Ozone.. But this is almost in a vacuum cuz there are no relative stats provided (what teammates do when he is with and without them).

Rebuilding teams should not be in the business of trading first round picks. If Stan added a second 1st round pick, that is inexcusable IMO. - Ogilthorpe2
Actually they gave up only 1...with the teams swapping first round picks this year. |

Boqvist, 12th overall, 1st next year, 2nd this year
for
Jones, 32nd overall, 6th in 2022 - SteveRain
Why though?
This is not a move Chicago needs to be making right now.
Are they trying to make one last ditch effort at another cup run with Toews and Kane? |

LET THIS SINK IN AND QUIT COMPLAINING ABOUT JONES' MONEY: JONES MAY NOT EXACTLY BE THE ALL AROUND OFFENSiVE STUD, BUT HIS PRESENCE ON DEFENCE WILL COMPLIMENT THE FAST SKILLED OTHER DMEN WE HAVE AND OR WILL BRING IN. THE DEFENCE WILL BE A TEAM STRENGTH. Hopefully add Sillinger to go with Dach emerging + Kane and DeBrincat.
You want to compete in the NHL you need some nasty, especially required in playoffs. I would like some speed and toughness checking added to bottom six plus a Sillinger. This is close to happening.
Wake up and understand Stan's plan. He is smarter than you complainers. Look how good we could become. Stan is a misunderstood GM right now. No he has not made 100% good moves in the past. He did manage MANAGE to keep the core together and won three Cups
I choose to see Jones as part of the rebuild and for the team to become a playoff contender. Stan can borrow the Yes we can phrase
OK, go ahead and female dog. I know a few smart folks will see what I am saying
I bet Rick agrees. I bet Wiz does. And I bet Theo can see the points I make and hopefully agrees. As well there are others on this board who are pretty smart whom I think will see where I am coming from - jhawk59 so your ok with boqvist 2 1st rounders and 2nd Jones and his overpaid contract I m not too much draft capital to give up plus cap space which will need to dcat kubalik Hagel dumb move today imo

Big difference between 12OA and 32OA. So it’s not exactly an even swap. |

Adding Jones and getting Toews back (hopefully) and a full season of Dach. Seems like some nice additions.
All the youngsters should improve too no? Full training camp, etc. Rosters always look better when you can slot guys down a line.
Cautiously optimistic. - bhawks2241
I'm worried about Toews. We still have a lot of holes. I'll eat my words, gladly, if Jones proves me wrong. I think this did more harm than good to the rebuild. If the 2 first round picks were ours, then that is really not good. |

if you look at from draft pick stand point....
1st next year, 2nd this year (1 of 2 they had this year)
they got a 6th next year
flip flopped 1sts this year.....
I don't hate it......i get others do, but I was never high on boqvist. They kept Dach, DeBrincat, Suter, Reichel, Kurashev and only gave up 1 asset in Boqvist.
To think they weren't going after a top tiered d man I guess IMO was naive based on everything we read the last month, and read from Bowman's mouth yesterday.....I would rather have Jones than Hamilton. |

Still too much. This year’s first is now essentially a 2nd, and next year’s 1st is more valuable because it’s projected to be a better draft year.
Not wise IMO….and then there’s the ridiculous extension. |

Because of Seabs being on LTIR for the next three years the cap space is a non issue.
Kane & Toews expire in two years...Kane will probably get equal and Toews will get less and probably retire...or at least a good chance.
Hagel will still be signed and Kubs is still a question mark

Yeah... I don't like next years pick being thrown in but we swapped picks this year. Hawks have shown they do just fine picking later in the 1st round or 2nd. TT, Saad, and Dcat (2nd round).
I think they can get a 1st back next year too. Have to see. Remember the haul we got for Ryan Hartman.

Come on now...there’s so many examples of a true #1 defenseman having a year or 2 that’s not consistent with the rest of his career, any elite position player for that matter. He didn’t forget how to play hockey. I just don’t get how people think he’s terrible! - rwilliams88
Is not terrible. He can excel in the right environment. It is abouthow he uts with the restbof the type defense Bowman wants. Kakynuk will be pretty good, maybe not a true furst pair. In that way he is like Jones. Mitchell still here; maybe be becomes pretty good. Eventually with Mitchell. Kaiser and Vlasic would fit in real well down the road. Murphy and Beaudin will be shipped out eventually.
Draft well Stan because you don't have #11 pick and next year's #1. Last pick first round this year...sounds like Darth Kane hoping we get Raaty there. Which I am not convincertain is a good choice. Still have a #2 this year. And I think Wise will be a player for us |

Oops
No! #11
Maybe they can draft a Sillinger type in this draft later but it won't be Sillinger himself.
Bold move Bowman.
Plenty pro con to argue about
Although you may not agree with how I see Bowman moving forward in the structure of his blueline crew and overall plan. As I mentioned earlier. |

Oh, well, the 6th changes everything.
Its a terrible trade and 2 weeks of watching Jones every game will make believers ou of everyone |

The money isn't out of line for a top pairing guy with at least 5 good years ahead of him.
It may turn out differently long term but Bovqist was a mistake at #8 and looks to be brittle. And the Hawks promoted him far sooner than he was ready. Good luck to the kid and hope he stays healthy for his sake.
I pay the extra money in salary for Jones all day long before Herman Munster Zadorov hamstrings me with a bloated mullti year deal.
Beyond the 1st 15 picks in this year's draft, its a crapshoot. Too many kids didn't play much this past winter.

I get it....I get the anger....I just figured it was coming (trade)......I would rather have THIS deal than say trading DeBrincat and/or Dach and at least 1, 1st and a 2nd than what we gave up.
Extension....as somebody else says.....paying him for future play.....I get he was off last year....but somebody show me some analytic chart showing this trend last few years.....Guy is going to be 27....entering his prime..... |

I dunno
I always look at trades as who got the best player.
Do you think the kid at #11 can be that guy?
Next year the lottery only allows an 11 slot jump.
Think they can get the best
player in the late first rounder and the second rounder?
I think they can.
I am sure I KNOW how the best player is, and what is already in our pipeline, but the entire team bobs ups and down with a steadying effect of Jones.
Columbus traded a second rounder for Jake Bean (ouch) |
