How so? Picking 8th next year before the Jones trade? That would mean none of our young guys improve....and that some regress.

He does but Seabs was also past his prime where Jones is just entering it.
They paid Seabs for what he already did...they are paying Jones for what he will do. Big difference.

Seth better be putting 50 60 points a year plus 10 15 goals and 25 minutes a game for that money

Is he though?

This is an incredibly bold chance to take giving him that extension. I’m worried it’s gonna cripple us.

- SimpleJack

Without any doubt in my mind>

He was what made his partner Brad Werenski the point guy / shooter and Jones will now open up.

We won the lottery. this is Shea Weber but Hedman like becasue of visage.

and I am shocked StanBo if he held firm to his offer and that switch of picks IS why they were able, if this is the deal.

Chicago acquires Seth Jones, a 2021 first round pick (#32) from Columbus for Adam Boqvist and a 2021 first round pick (#11 overall), and a future lottery protected first and a second with a #32 first round this year back to Blackhawks.

Draft picks can develop. This guy is...

Before the contact is over if it's 8 yrs. The price of doing business these days it seems. Pay a guy big, sign him for max yrs and suffer at the end of the contract.

Remember he has 8 yrs in the bigs as a 26 yr old. Went straight from Jrs to the bigs. Seabs came in as a 21 yr old and yes had a lot of playoff miles on him which Jones doesn't and probably won't have to worry about going forward.

- Mr Ricochet

I'm optimistic.

Seth is leaving a BJs team that no one has wanted to play for the last 3 years with Torts behind the bench and it being Columbus. Which BTW just coincides with the decline in his fancy stats the last several years.

So with the 32nd pick we take Colton Dach and 2 sets of brothers, that'll certainly change the narrative.

Looking like we’re sending them 2 1st round picks + 1 2nd rounder…and Boqvist.

Yes. Never had a problem with Seabs' cap hit but from the second I heard about the deal know the term would cripple the organIzation but everyone knew that except StanBow.

Yeah, why use numbers when you can't understand them.

IF he was one of the best defenders in the league, his numbers would reflect that. They don't

So we are judging him based on 1 shortened covid season? When he was on the 2nd worst team in the league?

You sure crucified posters for ripping on Toews for having a few bad years in a row. Blamed his line mates and the overall team play for his down turn in numbers.

I guess one bad year during a pandemic on a horrible team is enough to judge a 26 year old's career arch though right?

Over $8 anyway. I like the move. Forget the crazies here good players cost big money.
- rpeters01

The same crazies would have gone nuts if Bowman had paid Z his $5M asking price. Instead he dumps Zadorov and pays additional $4M for a wheelhorse on the backend. Thats a choice I make everyday of the week.

Why wait on the extension?? I feel much better knowing he’s not playing for the hawks for only 1 year while giving up what we did!!

I'm sure Toews and Kane and co. are quite happy with having Jones join the club.

His numbers have been declining for 3 years. Oh and he is still going to be on a horrible team. So we have that.

And BTW. Toews's metrics were still top notch. Which showed he was still playing well and not getting results. Not the same at all.

Hawks are labeled as? The majority of posters poop on our team on a nightly basis. Now we are good?
