Heres how I salvage this:
ARI to NYR: Dvorak and Crouse
NYR to ARI: 2022 1st round pick, Chytil, Georgiev and Jones
- Is it an overpay? Totally. But this is what it will take to beat out all other offers for a very good cost controlled C. I can live with this.
NYR sign C. Cizikas, 2y x 3m.
LAF, Zib, Kakko
Panarin, Strome, Krav
Kreider, Dvorak, Goodrow
Crouse, Cizikas, Blais
That bottom 6 is gonna give people nightmares. - aecliptic

Trading the 2022 1st rounder is a little dicey, just cause we have no clue where it will land. What if it’s another top 5 pick?
Why I was hoping to move this years first |

It would have been ideal to move this years. Im confident that we will be a playoff team with that squad, so I wouldnt be worried about the lottery. |

my first thought when I saw they acquired a 2022 2nd in the Buchnevich deal was that it might put the 2022 1st in play in the right deal

That is certainly a nice line up. But, where are Barron, Rooney and Gauthier? All in Hartford? I doubt that.
I'd rather see what a sub-seven figure player in Barron can do than pay $3M for Cizikas. |

What Cizikas can contribute, Barron will likely not.
Id rather have Barron on the 1st to call up list and play him on the top line in the AHL. A good season from Dvorak and he moves up to 2C the following year and Barron comes in as the 3C.
The other option is we trade Strome, move Dvorak up to 2C and start Barron as the 3C and Cizikas at 4C. |

I don't mind the trade with Arizona, but we kept Rooney to be 4C, so No to Cizkas.
Not a fan of Kinkaid being our backup either, so we may need another goalie if your trade happens. |

I think it is. I would make it an "or" rather than "and" for one of those assets. Also, I don't think the Rangers can afford Czikas, but Dvorak being signed for the forseeable future and Strome being gone before any new extension for Zib kicks in gives the Rangers cost certainty. |

This is what youre paying for in the overpay. You get room for Zib, Fox, Kakko and Krav... but then also some financial protection for LAF and Miller afterwards. |

The other situation is we trade for Dvorak and Crouse, send Strome to Seattle for Soucy.

But the Coyotes also benefit from offloading Dvorak's contract which has more dollars and term than they need to carry. They're looking to take on cap and shed real dollars. They need a goalie like Georgiev, they need a replacement center for Dvorak like Chytil, they need a young puck mover like Jones, and they need another 1st rounder, but I wouldn't give them a Chuck Fletcher special like Phila gave to Buff |

That's an excellent restructuring of the roster if Drury can make it happen. |

Why would Arizona trade Crouse. He doesn’t make any money. |

I just want him for us, hes exactly what we need for the 4th line. Its not a make or break for me in the trade. I saw something that Drury might take a shot to sign Martinook who will probably cost the same. |

It depends on the return. They need a defensman like Jones to replace OEL on the cheap, they get a center in Chytil who will make half of what Dvorak's AAV, and a netminder in Georgiev at a reasonable cap hit, or the Rangers' 1st next year in place if any of those assets. |

I guess. Crouse just doesn’t strike me as a guy they’d be interesting in moving.

I would say its a substantial overpay to get Dvorak and Crouse the way I have it. If they dont want to move Crouse, Id approach them with what was suggested as a 1st and Chytil, plus either Jones or Georgiev. |

Carolina has Reimer, Mrazek and Bernier, theres no way they keep all 3, we can probably grab one of them. |

So we’ve addressed getting tougher to play against….. but who’s fighting guys like Martin Ritchie Wilson etc. Goodrow is willing to but I just watched some of his fights against guys like that and he doesn’t fair to well. He beat up Martinook pretty good though |
|
|
|
I used to bring him up in the past as someone I wanted and he’s still someone I want, Sam Bennett. FLA has Reinhart Barkov and Verhaeghe down the middle, makes Bennett somewhat expendable. He plays hard and can throw em. Put him on the top line with Panarin, he was buried in the bottom 6 in CGY but was given a chance in FLA in the top 6 and had 15 pts in 10 games to go along with 5 pts in 5 games in the playoffs. They need defenseman, maybe Jones or Nils plus a 2nd or guy like Gauthier/Barron. |

Part of my thinks the Rangers are just going to give the Buch money to Coleman and try to rekindle that magic he had the last two years with Goodrow. |
