Maybe the trade with the Blues was simply to gain his rights and see if they could sign him.

He’s a rfa

That doesnt guarantee he wants to or will sign with them. Which is why I say its a trade to get his rights and see what happens.

He is restricted, they could take him to arb and just settle on a one year deal if buch demands too much

Saw something on Instagram that Larry Brooks is saying Drury and Zibs agent are in preliminary talks about a contract in the 7-8 year range for 10 million a year. Who knows if it’s real, but that’s a lot of money for Zib. Makes me think is it worth it

As I see it, the moves Drury has made may have made the Rangers a bit grittier but not better. They are definitely not closer to making the playoffs. Losing a solid 25g, 50+ point player will be difficult. The whole lineup will be forced to make up for it.

If Drury brings in another center I think the team will be better moving forward.

Depends what we give up for it. That #15 pick was a great chip that is virtually worthless now that we’ve driven it off the lot

Trading for a center now will definitely cost something out of the cupboard. Buch and that first could have been some good pieces going back the other way. Who knows what happened.

I really don’t like how Drury said he likes our center depth...kind of scares me that he won’t improve it

It was Brooks saying that not all 10 mil a yr contracts are the same. Eichel will only be 30 when his contract ends while Zib is is 28 And Ranger would prefer a 5 or 6 yr deal while he thinks Zib and his agents want a 7 or 8yr deal and giving him a long term deal at 10mil a yr might not age very well.

You know who’s had the best off-season so far? CBJ. Added Bean Voracek Boqvist Sillinger K. Johnson a 1st next year and have only lost Seth Jones and Cam Atkinson.

JD killin it

they did have an opportunity to draft Wallstedt or Cossa and didn't, but Sillinger was terrific pick

their biggest question now is what do they give Laine for his next contract

Laine is the kind of guy who will clean up in arbitration because of his career numbers but he's really fallen off a cliff

I wouldn't want to give him 7 mil+ a year

they absolutely KILLED it on the Seth Jones trade though, incredible return

"a source told The Athletic that Artemi Panarin and Igor Shesterkin are “livid” about the Buchnevich trade. It’s tough to imagine there aren’t at least a few other players who feel the same way"

I am starting to believe that Chris Drury could give a rat's ass about having a team full of buddies

Unfortunately it's part of the business. Look at poor Zucc back when "if you're friends with me you end up being traded". It sucks but it's the truth

Drury said they talked to several teams about the pick but nothing was close, so they made the pick. They can trade next year's 1st if they're confident they'll make the playoffs in the coming year. Teams like Arizona or Buffalo are interested in hoarding picks and prospects for the next draft.

Right or wrong it got Davidson and Gorton fired. These guys should have seen the writing in the wall as far as roster turnover and who might get dealt.

Arizona already has 5 second round picks next year

that's crazy

if they want two more, I am sure we can help them out

I am sure when Quinn and the coaching staff got Covid and Drury went behind the bench to help out those games, he didn't like what he saw

it's pretty obvious he didnt

That's actually a really good point. For 4 games be was bench level and saw the atmosphere. Maybe this is a Carter/Richards situation where he felt the team is too buddy buddy and not enough business. At the same time, not having a damn captain is to blame for this! A coach can real in as team via his captain. If your "room leaders" are all buddies they out number the coach and basically nothing will change.

In short, get a damn captain!

Reinhart only getting a first plus Levi makes me think buch market might not have been there

it's very obvious that RFA forwards had little trade value and the trade value of defensemen is through the roof

I imagine they're seeing what's the best deal they can make for Dvorak. Looks like Sens, Wild, and Rangers are among the interested teams, but others are out there looking for center depth too

Sens have a surplus of centers, but I don't think the ones they're willing to part with are what the Rangers are looking for, hence Ottawa's interest in Dvorak.
