Disagree. We are in a less position than most teams. This offseason season needs very shrewd thinking & action. Next season can trampoline the good groundwork done this offseason if accomplished.

What action that's different? You're actually agreeing cause the premise is long term space.

I hope he finds the next Burrows with all these AHL signings to fill an empty roster. With so many interruptions from pandemic might be a hidden gem among eligible players.

I like RJ, I think he’s going to find a couple of gems for the big club, hard to find someone as effective as Burrows when looking at undrafted players but I think he’ll find us some nice role players.

If I was to play along with this , knowing Rhino is a free agent in one year and doesn't want to play in Buffalo anymore and Risto has one year left. Here is my offer.

Schmidt Juolevi Roussel and a 2022 second . Take it or move on and we will take our chance when Rhino is a UFA

I offer up…

Schmidt/9oa/LE/b prospect
Rhino has to take 4-5/6m.
Schmidt waving.

Something along those lines. Unlikely that all would happen. I like Rhino just not the timing. Rather a Risto trade Schmidt straight up or very close. RHD needs the most attention & shuffling the LHD is doable. Hamonic or another good defensive big D still needed fir 3rd pairing to compliment Rathbone or OJ.

Schmidt won’t waive for Buffalo but if he did, I’d make this deal

We are in the tooling phase filling big holes for need. I don’t see it all getting done in one season. More cap space next year should be when high expectations are for real. This is a building block season & important to show growth & results. Compete better game in game out. Consistency mandatory & looking at special teams being the key to everything.

Works for me. The farm can finally be the bottom 6 extra D feeder. No more overpaying vet UFAs.

Also to evaluate coaching staff, Green and Baumer need to adjust their systems a bit, which is why they brought in Shaw

Playing better hardball than I did. I only suggested my offer as my idea if reality of the cost. I should’ve done similar to yours.

Definitely start with hardball, but in a bidding war I’d go as high as your offer with extensions in place for both incoming players

Lineup looks a lot more complete after that deal

No guarantee either player re-signs. Reinhart says he wants to play in the West

I was doing my realistic best on that offer. If not enough fine. Room for tweaking but not a lot.

Reuby, I just heard that the Kraken are sharing their AHL squad with the Panthers next year, not the Hurricanes. In your face!

If he wants to play here & be apart of winning then he has to be willing to fit into our cap. Open market price isn’t in the cards in our position. At 25yrs old I like 4/6m or 7/5.5m. Use RNH as a comparable who is older but less long-term.
