wow doesn't bode well for Jimmy's contract with Hughes.

Just from that video, you can tell that Garland is not very big and probably not the 5'10" that NHL has him listed at but more of what he said.

Plays fast though and that is something the Canucks need in their top 6.

Garland said he was 5' 7''-5'8''. His Grandparents were in "The Wizard of Oz".

Can't get there I think they are still pretty even.

I haven't dropped Hughes into the doldrums like Ruby and a few others after the goofy last year.

I could care less how big he is as long as he produces and helps Van win a SC this year.

Pretty wild to think that 20 of the 30 first rounders taken in the 2014 NHL draft are no longer with the team that drafted them. That number jumps to 21 if Jake Virtanen isn’t back with Vancouver next season.

Interesting stat /not interesting.

Reubenkincade has been consistent and had him on his Do Not Draft list.

Tampa flipped our 1st round pick for Coleman, who cost a fraction of miller and end up winning 2 Stanley cups in a row.

Miller is a fantastic player, and I remember just this last season , a bunch of people in here calling for a trade because of his turnovers lol.

All I'm saying, and will continue to say, is while we are a bottom team in the weak Pacific, or the league, we should not be trading 1st or second round picks. Just my opinion and it won't change with the crowds.

Have to invest first in order to grow but it has to be the right time - hopefully Benning has timed the addition of these players with EP, Hughes, Bo etc. time to shine.

Not bad when those players only need to be good 4th line players or solid 5 - 7 d men. Team still needs another legit top three dman

My biggest take away here is that OEL thrived in a pass/carry system and declined in a chip out system. Vancouver seems to want to be a pass/carry system, which may help bring his game back. I also liked how they discount his skating, yet show a video where he uses that to force a guy behind the net and strip him of the puck.
I'm not saying he is a good skater, but maybe show a video where he gets burned to prove your point?

Thanks for sharing. Not a rosy picture. Garsey sounds like the winger they’ve been searching for to up Bo’s game. This team is probably going to score A LOT of goals this year. That’s a lot of pressure on Shaw to adjust the systems to try and keep some out of their own net.

What time do things get under way today?

The up side is Lui will probably actually play in the NHL this season so Canuck fans will get to see him 3 or 4 times, and Don and Lefty will get to see him 82 times

I don't think the chip out system was the one that Arizona was playing, it was just what OEL started to do.

They gave up a lot of rush chances last season.

I hope that Shaw can increase the hockey IQ of many of the Canucks players by 10 fold.

Canadiens were trying to move their first-round pick
David Pagnotta: There was some talk that the Montreal Canadiens were trying to trade their first-round pick in a package deal or straight up for an established player.

The Canadiens still have two second-round picks and two third-round picks.

Only two teams had a shot at Seth Jones
Larry Brooks: Source said that Seth Jones had told the Columbus Blue Jackets that he would only sign a contract extension with either the Dallas Stars or Chicago Blackhawks.

When the Stars dropped out of the trade talks, the Blue Jackets focused on a Blackhawks deal.

Two more Coyotes on the move?
Craig Morgan: The Arizona Coyotes could still move goaltender Darcy Kuemper and forward Christian Dvorak.

A source is saying the Coyotes wanted Alex Newhook from the Avalanche.

The Bruins were kicking tires but so were plenty of other teams.

Canucks still working on trades
Brendan Batchelor: Vancouver Canucks GM Jim Benning on a two-year contention timeline: “We have to grow as a team. We have to get the pieces in place, and we’ll just see where we end up. We’ve got good goaltending. We still have to work and make our defence better.’

Brendan Batchelor: GM Benning on defenseman Nate Schmidt: ” He’s part of our team. He’s part of our group. I’m going to continue to try and make the team better. There’s teams that are interested in him.”

Brendan Batchelor: GM Benning on goaltender Braden Holtby: “There’s teams calling on Holtby. We’re going to look at the different opportunities that are presented to us for him.”

Harman Dayal: GM Benning on pending UFA Brandon Sutter: “I talked to Brandon (Sutter) a couple days ago and maybe there’s a fit there for him now.”

Brendan Batchelor: GM Benning on trying to recoup some draft picks: “I’m trying. We’ve worked at it all day. We’ll continue to work at it .”
