Why, when referring to the current state of the NHL salary cap do people continually use the word “era” or “world” to describe it?

It is neither an era nor worldly.

I seen one guy on Twitter that follows the Blades say he has been the best captain in a very long time. He fights he has a few on YouTube

PIM per game, doesn’t seem soft. Ryan Johnson must see some potential in him
- Nucker101

I hope he finds the next Burrows with all these AHL signings to fill an empty roster. With so many interruptions from pandemic might be a hidden gem among eligible players.

I hope they hold fast to their plan instead of caving in to a high$ long term deal for a marginal player.

I’m ok with one more average season and a lottery pick.

- 1970vintage

Marginal player is whom? How did that get slipped in?

Expensive/long term marginal player is pretty pessimistic.

Schaller, Beagle, Roussel, Sutter, some pretty good reasons for some to be a bit pessimistic, not everyone is going to be as optimistic as you and I.😉

Goodrow just signed a monster deal, don’t do that is what I’m saying. Hayman is rumored to be signing an 8 year $5m deal, don’t do that.

If you can’t make a good trade, don’t panic and address your needs by paying too much for whatever UFA is left.

Nighty - remember a month or two ago I suggested that Hamonic would be looking for Tanev like money? I said $4 x 4, but maybe a bit less to stay in Van because he likes it here. Vantel has also suggested he thinks Hamonic will be looking for $3+. Larson signing is a comparable. I forget your drop dead numbers, but if you are only willing to do 2 years and $2.5 for Hamonic, don’t panic and do $4 x 4 because that’s all that’s left.

I don’t think this is a pessimistic outlook at all.

Vintsy still over worries the worst might happen. Sounds of desperation so let’s just wait & see.

I think Jake and Holtby are gone Monday or Tuesday. Traded or bought out.
- VANTEL

Its all about the cap. Flat cap dictates that. Canucks in much better position then most teams to make moves. They're probably weighing who's available now as opposed to next off season in making long-term additions.

Had AL 4/4m
Hamonic 2-3/2.5m

There are other options & doubt it gets down to what is left & a panic deal.

I honestly don't worry about it. We don't know who they are targeting or who they have talked to. I am sure they know what they are doing.

Jason Speeza and Joe Thornton at 900k on yearly contracts or Roussel and Beagle at 3m for 4 years thanks to Benning meat and potatoes eye test.

Disagree. We are in a less position than most teams. This offseason season needs very shrewd thinking & action. Next season can trampoline the good groundwork done this offseason if accomplished.
