So were LE, Rousel and Beags.

I'll take that swap.

Those players only had to be here for 1 more year though. We will have OEL at 7 aav for 5 more years after what those players would have been gone for lol

Agree to disagree.

We gave up the 9th overall pick to acquire a player we're already considering buying out?

I would have preferred just acquiring Garland, keeping our 1st round pick and being flush with cap space in a year.

I mean is anyone really surprised by him acquiring OEL, or dealing our 1st or that there's outrage?

Seems like par for the tenure.

Pretty sure this is 100% on the Sedins, can't be a coincide that Benning reaches for a Swede weeks after bringing those two.....

For sure. They’re the acting GMs now. This was their trade. JB is just a puppet GM for them

best thing ever would be if louie retires before the start of the season.

But it was only 1 more year until "Stupid Contracts are Gone Freedom Day." I personally could have waited

He was awful last season.

Incoming "but he played for a bad team and had a bad defensive partner" comments.

- Codes1087

Good part about this trade is the team does improve probably for this season.

Only problem is that if they don't win a cup, there will most likely be very limited in what they can do the next season to improve.

The core isn't locked up long term to friendly contracts, they have traded away way too many 1sts and 2nd round picks recently to have strong compliment coming through the pipeline.

There's really nothing but Maybe Woo and MD coming out of Utica that might be impactful in the near future.

I'll wait and see how the dust settles (Resigning RFAs, UFAs) before casting judgement.

In a cruel turn of events, Arizona is going to MTA or LTIRetire all the new Canuck contracts they just took on

I mean, OEL was bad defensively on a team that was overall better defensively than the canucks last year. Myers was better in Winnipeg, and Schmidt was better in Vegas.

I know we now have shaw to help out there, but if I'm a betting man...

Acquiring OEL is a massive mistake. That is a scary scary contract unless major money is retained

Players don't want to be in Canada, I guess this is the best Canadian teams can do.
