Jimbo just admitted he's interested in bringing Sutter back

How is that even a thought in his head still?

Benning just said if Mikey D is ready at camp to be the back up then we will use him but more than likely in Abbotsford . I take this as Holtby won't be a Canuck ( yes I am disecting every word. ) I took this as a slip up revealing his hand.

Solid plan...

If he has not yet strategized potential buy-outs i suppose its going to be pretty quite on the the trade front, meanwhile other teams are dropping salary left and right.

Thanks Carol. Draft day will be so much fun this year with a bunch of picks being made.

I don't think Van can really go wrong with anyone they pick at 9 in this draft. Unless Nucker someone is allowed to pick.

I say bring in someone like Raanta or Halak on a cheap 1 year deal.

Carol Schram: Canucks lose Kole Lind to Kraken, who they'll face in Seattle's home opener
A very busy week in the NHL has seen the Vancouver Canucks lose young forward prospect Kole Lind to the Seattle Kraken in the expansion draft. Jim Benning is looking to make more moves with the draft looming this weekend.

Thanks for the blog, I certainly hold your opinions on anything Canucks related over the continued complaints from the peanut gallery.

Now for 21 pages of Benning hysteria.

I like Raanta, he's pretty decent but just not durable enough to be a starter, would be good as a backup

I don't know if either would be better than Holtby just cheaper. Arizona and Boston had pretty good defensive numbers.

They just moved the team to Abbotsford. I would expect having the team win lots would be good for business. Having actual Canucks prospects there too.

I still think it's something the Canucks need to improve on, developing the players long term in Utica. MD barely played last season, why not let him rip up the AHL for another season, I don't think it could hurt that much.

Would be dumb to plan for Mikey to be anywhere other than Abbotsford. Even if he outplays Demko in camp and preseason. He played like 3 games last year.

“There’s been a lot of interest in the ninth pick, so, we’re listening,” said Benning. “If we can find a player that fits into our age group, we will take a look at it. I would say more teams are calling this year compared to past years when we’ve had our picks.”

Jim Benning on aiming BPA with his second-round pick as well: "That second-round pick, there's a bunch of guys we like. And we're not necessarily looking positionally. I think there's probably going to be more forwards available than defencemen"

Though it would suck for Juniors, a lot of 1st and even 2nd rounders are better served in AHL, maybe not in D+1 but definitely D+2. They should use this change as the door opening on changing everything else.

The league pays more money for developing kids, to the USHL,NCAA and European leagues, than they do to the CHL.

Not surprising at all. It’s a very Benning thing to do.
