there are innovative solutions to be had if you're savvy enough.

everyone thinks that kucherov sat out last season except the playoffs. that's not true. he actually played under the name Iam Notkucherov. that guy was on a min cap hit pto contract.

I know some teams have had to play short during the season - ie if you have an injury they don’t let you call someone up as a replacement. I guess they could force you to waive as many players as it takes to get under the cap?

i think it's under 18 players and you forfeit. i could be wrong on the number of players but there is a minimum number you have to have dressed and on the game sheet. otherwise, it's a forfeit.
