Feels like AZ just threatened to take the deal off the table and Jim just keeps throwing 2nds at him.
Looking forward to seeing what this actually is. - belcherbd

Forgot to mention the offloading of dead weight that everyone complained about endlessly for the past several years - dbot
What do you think the next 5 years after of OEL contract is going to be?
1 year of dead weight vs 6 years of dead weight. |

The same slurpers will be praising whatever GM is here that buys out OELs remaining contract or trades a 1st in 3 or 4 years to get out of it. The blind loyalty and lack of critical thinking to evaluate trades knows no bounds. - Codes1087
i'm sure mgmt envisioned buying out the final part of the deal.
Why can that not be considered part of the equation?
Happens regularly.

I expect OEL to play and contribute...more than LE, Beagle and Rousell combined.
Maybe we can put together an effective and low cost 4th line now, instead of the aforementioned dead weight. |

Benning should of made this deal a week ago then LE, Roussel and Beagle could of gotten a ride with Lefty. - A_SteamingLombardi

If you're going into a deal with the intention of buying out a player that has 6 years left, you should probably re-evaluate wanting that said player in the deal. |

He wasn't very good last season.
Think of Schmidt being an improvement over Tanev.
Now think of OEL being an improvement over Edler and the results might be the same. |

He was awful last season.
Incoming "but he played for a bad team and had a bad defensive partner" comments. |
