he has a dumb mustache, but that's smart

It's weird. Like if you are a US citizen with a primary residence in the country, but work outside of the states like 80% of bonus salary is not taxed

really eh? huh... wasn't aware taxes could vary that much among states. and I think Alberta has the lowest taxes in Canada?
- Pat1993

On Jake Allen's Contract, he'd take home $128,000 more in Alberta than he does in Montreal, but only $50k more in LA, or $100k more in Minnesota.

Obviously Quebec has the highest income tax rate in the NHL, but the difference between Quebec and Ontario on a $2 million contract is only about $6500.

Primary residence doesn't matter...it's the jurisdiction where it's earned

so basically no difference at all (unless the player is so (frank)ing cheap he'll actually consider this, in which case I wouldn't want him on my team).

also that is (frank)ing insane, although Avery doesn't seem like the most credible source for anything.
- Pat1993

Jake Allen's $2 million contract pays him about $850k after taxes.

That doesn't include league fees.

he's at 2.9M, but I guess the point is he's paying a (frank) ton of money in taxes... holy.

I wonder how teams will consider the picks' value this year, I have a feeling they might be worth less

I'd need to see that on paper...I'm no international tax expert by any means but I do pay one and I'm curious now

I neither like no dislike Gary. I understand his job and the role it plays and also understand that he's very good at his job. I honestly think most people who hate Gary do so because they don't fully understand what his actual job is and who he is responsible to. Gary's bosses LOVE Gary
