Philly got future consideration + Ghost cap space (4.5M) - dmnted
I always thought cap space wasn't considered an actual return.

But why is Dubas trading Kerfoot. Where is the notion that Kerfoot could be traded coming from?
I would love to see him traded, I have seen nothing that says this is even remotely on Dubas' radar. I think he sees him as Tavares and Willies linemate next season.
He literally made a trade to keep Kerfoot. - joel878
Not exactly so. He traded a seventh and a bottom to middle prospect so he wouldn't lose Kerfoot for nothing. If he turns around an trades Kerfoot for a 2nd, it's a win.

The capspace is a byproduct. But apparently "Future Considerations" is a return. |

They all knew about it. Bowman. Quenneville. Bergevin. But they hoped to sweep it under the rug and it would magically go away. - gergeswillems

Does this Goodrow contract remind anyone else of the one the Bruins signed Matt Beleskey to?
Talking to a buddy about it. I think it is, he thinks it isn’t. |

I am guessing Coyotes want to get into the first round with their 4 second round picks. Or do they look at it like a crazy draft and just make the 4 picks.

Marginally? I don’t know how much the cap has gone up since we signed him. But yeah, a bit cheaper.
I just looked. The cap was around 70 million and Goodrow’s hit is 200k less and a year longer.
The equivalent to Beleskey’s AAV today would be 4.4 so let’s say the Bruins signed him for 6 years and it goes down to 4.1 or something. Cheaper, sure, but they seem similar. Not too far off. Beleskey was also younger I think.
Either way, I don’t like it for them. |

The fact that Hyman wants to go to poophole Edmonton instead of staying in Toronto, apart from the extra money is an indication as well that he's not very happy with the team culture. Could see how a character guy that works hard, is intelligent and wants to win cost what costs doesn't like the entitlement culture around him.
I hope it works out for him (but what a cost to pay living in Edmonton.... I guess being 50% on the road and having a June-Oct Summer pause where he can train wherever he wants makes up for it to some extent). |

Just looked. Yeah. They had Beleskey at 5.21% of the cap and Goodrow is at 4.7%. Goodrow is 6 years, and Beleskey was 5.
It's still a significant chunk of change and term for a guy who is a bottom-6 player and will likely be a 4th line player before the contract runs out. |

I really hate long term for bottom 6 or bottom pairing defenseman, so I’m maybe being unfair here.

He chose Edmonton over 31 other teams.
Therefore, Edmonton's culture is better than that of those 31 other teams.

Completely agree.
Totally about culture.
That's why he is leaving to go to perennial winning team that doesn't have a culture of losing....
Edmonton.
