In reality he’s a number 4-5 d man that can play on their PP.

Arizona needs to slot in players for as cheap as possible.

Someone they can use as a 4-5 and take a spot on their PP for 1M is a no brainer for them. And he takes up 4.5M of their cap which helps them get to the cap floor.

Kerfoot is more valuable but this is the kind of deal I see ARZ making with the leafs.

Gost only owes 1M this year and 3.25M next year.

He’s been shopping him this offseason so far. David Pognotta is the reputable source for that.

His contract is worth gold to some teams while the leafs don’t care about actual money. He will be traded.

Bear in mind that they made a trade to not lose Kerfoot for nothing.

So if you give up a 7th & Hallander and keep Kerfoot so you can trade him for a 2nd or a 3rd or something of that nature, then the move was worth it.

I think they will explore trading Kerfoot because he's not worth his $3.5m cap hit for the Leafs, but there may be teams that want or can use him in their top-6. For what we need (a 3C), he's overpaid and really he's underqualified for the needs of that role.

It came from santos after he realized he was wrong about who the kraken were taken.
Im not sure why dubas would move him now, but we will see.
