My love for the Leafs puts in a conflict.

Do I have to cheer for Americans to die of Covid so Canada becomes more attractive to these anti-restriction/mask types?

- The Law

I think restrictions aside (which are lifting, plus in Alberta, they are already lifted for the most part), the taxes and social media heat to be the two stand out points.

I think Dubas was pretty clear in stating what everyone knows: his future is tied to the short term results from the core 4.

Is Holland stupid to sign Hyman long term if he can get the AAV down or does he only care about having $ for guys to play with McDavid before his contract is up?

- Canada Cup

I think it's a bad outlook from Dubas, his future may be tied to the core 4 but to me that doesn't mean it has to be this season or bust. None of the core 4 are retiring or walking after this season.

If he managed the Rielly thing adequately, he perhaps takes a significant step this season (2-3 rounds), everyone gets off his ass and he actually has some cannon fodder left to push the needle further next season.

He keeps on this track and he's gonna be completely out of cannon balls end of this season regardless.

Live to see another day, Kyle. πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

They've been basically completely gone since Canada day, case numbers are starting to trend in the wrong direction quickly again.

Elliotte Friedman on SN960: thinks EDM offered a 6th for Hyman's sign and trade. Doesn't think Toronto thinks that's enough. Another GM told him a 6th wouldn't be enough for him to do it in the same situation either with how valuable cap space is.

i dont know the Loilers cap sit well, i guess it depends how much they need 500k

Take the 6th and run if we’re letting him go.

Yeah I think another first round loss Dubas will be fired.

A flat cap sucks for the leafs because it clearly must have been factored in when they signed the deals.

- Aaron_85

This would be very poor reasoning behind awarding Marner, a playmaking winger, such a mammoth contract.

I'm thinking Dubas thought he was waaaaay ahead of plan on this team succeeding and overrated the depth and playoffability the core could muster.

Hindsight, maybe, but banking on the cap continuing to rise was always going to be a risky proposition.

I've mostly just learned to embrace my disdain for humans and stay away from them.

Rules came off Canada day and there was instantly thousands of people at Canada day celebrations. Yeah, nah I'll just stay home and drink beer. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

Would be nice to travel and go to a hockey game again though. Missing the annual trips to Phoenix. πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

Just get Holland to toss in Khairi. What the hell cheap younger bottom type. Worth more than a 6-7th pick but since they wint wualify him he is a cast off with Edmonton anyways.

Colds are just annoying , nothing that really threatens anything other than needing to take it a bit easy for a few days.

Its not a bad thing for an immune system to take on the common cold here and there, helps strengthen it.

I'll bet hand sanitization is probably the biggest factor to bringing down colds and other viruses.

Having said that, when I traveled to Japan many years ago I was confused by all of the mask wearing. I mistakenly thought those wearing masks were trying to avoid catching colds from other people around them. It was the opposite: they were trying to avoid spreading the colds they had to other people around them. I absolutely love that concept and hope that we'll adopt something similar here.

At the very least, if you are sick in any way, have the courtesy to wear a mask if you're leaving the house!

Depends, there is legitimate research that shows your immune system weakens without regular use.

I don't think we need to be afraid of the common cold.

I'd like to see how Risto does on a team that can actually defence. He seems like a player who has been colossally mis-coached and pushed to be a solid two-way defender.

He's not that guy and he has a tendency to Phaneuf plays -- go for the big, thunderous hit and be aggressive when it's totally not unnecessary.

He needs a guy like Brodie to protect him from himself. Probably too late for him now, but a real shame because he has skills.

Yeah, I'm kind of enjoying the social distancing aspect of this whole ordeal. I've always been uncomfortable with people needing to stand right up next to me.

Having said that, I'm having difficulty resisting a good handshake and hugging. I don't want to give those up.
