I'm really not against Parise on the real cheap for the bottom 6...but...he doesnt have size...if thats what Hex wants...
- MattStrat

He definitely shouldn’t get significant money, but he does play an aggressive game despite his smaller stature. He really want to the net hard against us.

I agree but Im thinking the bottom 6 is where they might add size and bottom 6 size is much cheaper than top 6 to both acquire and pay...I hope I'm wrong and them going for bottom 6 size doesn't leave an effective and cheap player like Freddy not there in September.

Yah, I think we all would pretty much lose it if a Kassian or Deslauries type came in at the expense of a player who produces and plays all situations.

He’s asking for 3.5M
- kfinl170

Then Carolina is stupid

2nd round pedigree, developed, performed at the NHL level (I seem to be describing Jarry)

But he also played really well in the playoffs, IMO

They could be just cutting bait and going for a proven veteran (Bernier is not that guy), like a Gibson, but you'd think the return for such a guy would be Nedeljovic

Small sample so he is a risk but when the alternatives aren’t anything special it doesn’t make a ton of sense from Carolinas perspective

They need to clear cap just because. They have Schwartz to try to resign this year and Parayko next year. If they want an easy replacement for Dunn, I'd gladly do Pettersson for Tarasenko straight up.

Its a big risk, but I personally think Tarasenko is going to be a man on fire this year. He might not put up 30+ goals but I bet he puts up 25 and gets closer to a PPG level in the right situation.

- MacPatty

I’d do that swap for sure. I think tarasenko will be on a mission as well and if he finds a good line to be on will rack up some points.

Even if Carolina isn't 100% sold on him yet, they have the cap to also get an established Vet on a short term deal to hedge their bets

Giving up on this guy now, for no reason, seems foolish

Agreed and with nothing in the Detroit pipeline I’m a big fan of the deal.

Yeah, I don't get it. Skimming dollars on a 3.5 mil/yr goalie? Eh.

Flyers trading ghost to the yotes… that opens up more cap
- pens4life-66

Yah, they sent Ghost, a 2nd and a 7th. Nothing coming back in return.

You do kind of get the feeling from his comments that Hextall is going to do exactly what Rutherford did last season and just not bother to plug the roster holes in the top 9 and see what happens. After losing McCann and Tanev that’s even more preposterous of a plan than it was last year, and it was already a trash plan last year.

Arizona has made two trades, received 3 2nd round picks, a 3rd, a 7th, Ladd and Ghost and sent nothing back in return lol. Pretty savvy

Screwing this limping. Tear it down and do for wright or go after someone. Doing nothing shouldn’t be an option.

Rangers signed Goodrow to a 6 year deal. If the AAV is around the reported 3.5 that is a big contract for his on ice production.
