Is it really though , you know the 16 and 17 year olds playing now will make a better draft? Seems a bit ridiculous.
- ClaudeFather

Not as ridiculous as thinking that every team is going to send their newly drafted players through a magic portal, roll the dice and hope RNG is on their side. This is why players get scouted, otherwise teams would pull names out of a hat.

No deal for Jake unless Fletch gives up some big assets...he is an albatross. 8.25M for a guy who scores 14 goals last 2 yrs and doesnt hustle..Who wants that. Just ask yourself if Jake was a NJ DEVIL available would Flyers take him???
- hfc355

He's not an albatross. Jake actually plays hockey and has his strengths and weaknesses. He is overpaid, yes, but he's no James Neal or Milan Lucic. Hell, the Islanders are still paying Rick freakin DiPietro until 2029! That's an albatross.

But when did I state that the team drafted was their October roster? I think you're on Facebook too much and confusing what you have read prior with what someone else says.

Once again the Vegas draft of players and Seattle draft of players were basically the SAME, but Vegas received A LOT of draft picks for choosing who they did, which in turn did give them an advantage LATER to improve their team, but that doesn't mean Seattle won't be making trades to improve.

It's almost like you are arguing the same exact point to look foolish.

- Glak18

I don’t have Facebook, you are missing the point that there are still trades to be made to gain assets or players for Seattle. Obviously not to the extend Vegas since folks have knowledge but this isn’t it. Teams will be calling to take contracts. You’re failing to recognize that will happen after the ED than before with Vegas.

They'll have to in order to reach the salary floor, no?
- Scoob

After signing their RFA's (if they decide to keep them) they should basically be at the floor.

Top of my head Vegas and Seattle were both sitting at 54 some million after the expansion draft.

AGAIN I didn't even mention anything about what happens after. I made a statement about THE EXPANSION DRAFT...what don't you understand?

Generally speaking, the Drafts that have been pre-declared among the weaker ones -- most every draft produces some surprises and some stars -- have turned out to be exactly that. There aren't many years where Owen Power (who is not expected to be a franchise D, but is a well-rounded player with a lot of desired attributes) would go first. There aren't expected to be any mega-stars this year. Maybe that's proven wrong. But the consensus is that the top end of the draft isn't spectacular and the drop off points between levels of prospects comes earlier this year with a sooner-arriving level-off point where this Draft becomes pretty much like like every other draft; select for one or two attributes, and hope you get lucky with other things coming together.
- bmeltzer

That’s my point though, we are picking at #13, is the middle of the first round that much worse than prior years? And would there not be a greater chance to get the guy you want since teams boards probably look different sooner than later?

Why are you talking like our guys were the only ones that got passed over?

All the veterans across the league that were waived last season and cleared, all the term that didn't get traded at the TDL, and now a team w/ $80M in cap space ignoring every single bad contract... the landscape couldn't be more clear.

- Tomahawk

Not saying Flyers were only ones looking for Kraken to give them Cap relief..others also such as Blues. Blues want desperately to unload Tarasenko and to do it they are going to have to eat salary and sweeten the pot. I am convinced Montreal wanted Price taken also. Francis did great job not biting though still cant understand some of the picks

He and that contract are an albatross as far as allowing the Flyers to move on..break up the core...and improve the team. Jake is still a decent one way NHL player. 3rd line at 4-4.5M

Chuck Fletcher would probably orgasm and say yes all within a nano-second of that offer

I orgasmed twice just by visualizing this trade turning into reality. I would even throw in Jake voracek too. You're welcome

??? They could get a 2nd for Soucy from many NHL teams without taking on Jake. Why would they do that. ??

If we learned anything from last night's ED, the Kraken REALLY want to help out the FLyers; that's why

Attacking my character with some BS because you don't like the fact Sanheim got manhandled by a jockey. Quite the reach.

:-)

Been super busy with work, then intentionally stayed away and off social media the last couple days to avoid any leaks related to the ED.

I thought the ED was boring, uneventful, and the hosts were not good. If that's a sign of what ESPN is bringing back to the table - ugh.
