Frost is my Flyers Marner. Ghost gets a raw deal from fans and the team so I've rooted for him like an underdog. Myers I wanna see him go from undrafted to big deal.

All three are possession-drivers so there's a math side to it too.

- Tomahawk

Fair enough. Say all three of those guys quit tomorrow to become professional sweater knitters, do you have a team that would move you enough to actively pull for?

on the surface the ghost trade seems retarded but it could be the precursor to a larger deal
- 2Real

I think it has to be a precursor to another trade/signing. Hopefully it's not to overpay on Sanheim, Hart and a backup.

Those two contracts will be in the neighborhood of 8 million total. That’s the market.

Admittedly much younger me thought mario and jagr were the coolest thing going. I obviously missed Mario’s major prime, but the whole coming back from cancer thing/video game themed nickname/player transitioning to owner. Just badass. Then jaromir basically screamed LOTR character, and I thought the hair was cool. It didnt just naturally become Flyers hate, but I guess as I got older being a scrawny naturally inclined contrarian it became cooler to hate the whole “Yeahhhh broad street bullies narrative”. It only became easier over time to lean into the dislike of your typical WIP/xfinity type.

Phillies? Baseball is pretty much every kids first love. My fondest/earliest memories of the Phillies are scrubs like marlon Anderson and Travis Lee. Eagles I watch because I do love football and they’re typically whats on, but I don’t feel a strong emotional tie one way or the other. Same as the sixers.

Here is the sentence, verbatim, bolding mine:

"on the surface the ghost trade seems retarded but it could be the precursor to a larger deal"

You are reading the above with retarded as a synonym for slowed? Try using it as a sentence and then tell me: why would the op use the past tense for slowed since it would be the present state of matters? And omit what exactly it was that has slowed?

Do you know the difference between a verb and an adjective?

I agree with you about Myers, disagree about Ghost, and don't know enough about Frost.

Would it however be unfair to point out that two of the players you have said were underappreciated passed through waivers unclaimed? (The other was Akeson a few years ago)

- PT21

Bill Meltzer has documented numerous times why Gostisbehere passed through waivers last season. So your attempt here at taking a shot, falls short of the mark.

Apparently!

Since a kid from Taipei, by way of KY, by way of OH, by way IL, roots for a team from Philly with a large yahoo fan base with whom it is clear he has very little in common.

Ha ha.

Guten nacht!

If we're taking a goalie in the first round it's Wallstedt or nothing for me. I hope we don't go this route because I have a lot of faith that Hart is the real deal.

I've been reading about/following Wallstedt for 4 years, he's been getting high praise for quite a while. There's a good chance he'll be a Franchise goalie. If we didn't already have Hart I'd be all in for Wallstedt.

- dubc55

Well if wallstedt will be a franchise goalie in say 4-5 years AND hart IS the real deal COULDNT we draft and develop wallstedt then trade hart for major assets on 4-5 years instead of signing him to to huge money.

For example say we draft wallstedt and hart is due bridge deal this year sign him for 5/20 mil. Trade him in last year for assets without paying him huge $ and roll with 23 year old wallstedt. Fits my goalie drafting theory to a t

This is a good idea honestly, just don't think the Flyers will be able to get Wallstedt

Sebastian Cossa is a little more raw technically but he’s 6’5” or 6’6” and athletic. I’d still take him at 13 particularly after Hart’s last year.

Yes that could work as well. I just want to focus on drafting a RHD and Forwards. I really like Wallstedt though and wouldn't be upset if he lands here.

A while back, we're you the one asking people to ask you about your goalie theory? Then someone finally bit and asked. Is it that goalie theory you're talking about?

Yeah I posted my goalie drafting theory weeks ago. I’d only do it for the top goalie prospect if rated almost can’t miss. Maybe top 2 some years. Cossa is projected as almost can’t miss too I believe. I’m not necessarily proposing we do it but I wouldn’t be pissed.

Yeah I always thought it was an opportunity to beat the field since teams don’t draft goalies in round 1. I mean it’s only the top goalie prospect I’d do it for. I mean we draft like 1-2 goalies every year and have hot on what 1 last decade? As long as hart pans out. The theory is if you hit say like hart you have him for relatively cheap for a good 5 years at nhl level then move him for assets and turn reigns over to next guy for relatively cheap for another 5years and keep it going. Less picks on goalies also over the years too(more chances at other positions with picks) and also less $ spent in trade or Fa trying to find a guy (ala Bryz)

$9.385 +$ 4.5 = $13.885

Edit: minus Morin Sanheim Hart and a back up goalie.

Guessing about -9.5 (maybe less since it is a tough market) leaves about what you freed up for Ghost.

Yes. I mean if I have top 5 pick I’m not doing it unless that rare case of flower price talent happens to be in that draft (rare) but normally we’re drafting somewhere between 12-25ish range

Thanks. Maybe 4mil for Sanheim? 5mil for Hart? 2mil for a half decent backup? That leaves us with $2,885,000 for a second line RHD and nothing left to improve our forward group. We'll see what else Fletcher has up his sleeve.

Ugh not this again. Your brilliant "theory" would have the best goalie in the league on another team while Jake Oettinger would be holding back the Lightning from even making the playoffs. Gtfoh.

I mean you know between years 4-6 if there’s a stud goalie prospect coming. So maybe it’s year 4 or 5 or 6. Maybe someone else beats you to the punch in year 4 so you try in year 5 or year 6. Point is basically no one takes goalies in round 1. Even then it’s usually mid to early 20’s at best. “Oh we don’t need goalie but he’s just too good to pass up at pick 18”. Or something like that so if your a good team picking at say 23 because you went into round 2 playoffs trade up a few spots to invest once in awhile to take that goalie stud. What’s it really costing you? Not much. And even if it fails what you really losing at pick 23 ? Nothing franchise changing. Especially considering if you hit which good chance look at what you get.
