Check the edit, pho pho.

Not that it makes the slightest difference to my point but it should keep you lost in thought for a good awhile.

And then you will fall asleep.

And no one will notice.

so you are saying that the trade WAS mentally challenged is the same as it SEEMS to be mentally challenged. That is a reach sheldon. I stand by what I said -- night night

Watch the Phillies the last three nights and you can easily hate them too. In fact they might be the most dislikable team in town.

Thankfully, I don't really follow them...

No, what I am saying is that in both variations (seems or was), the noun is the trade, the verb is seems or was, and the adjective is "retarded".

Now, if op was using it in the way you disingenuously claim he was, he would have used it as a verb.

GET IT?

Btw: I thought you were Angus4444. He is the guy who usually calls me Sheldon. Hence me calling you pho pho.

Elevated discourse all around!

I read the sentence and the words seems retarded did not mean stupid. it reads as a stumbling block that can be overcome depending on what is done in the future.

I am sorry that you see harm in everything and must try to express that to those that are around your orbit.

Here is the sentence, verbatim, bolding mine:

"on the surface the ghost trade seems retarded but it could be the precursor to a larger deal"

You are reading the above with retarded as a synonym for slowed? Try using it as a sentence and then tell me: why would the op use the past tense for slowed since it would be the present state of matters? And omit what exactly it was that has slowed?

Do you know the difference between a verb and an adjective?

Seems as thought you've gotten yourself into another childish name calling battle and again correcting other posters grammar.

fascinating.

genuinely did not know that. any special attachment to those three for a particular reason?

- stayinthefnnet

Frost is my Flyers Marner. Ghost gets a raw deal from fans and the team so I've rooted for him like an underdog. Myers I wanna see him go from undrafted to big deal.

All three are possession-drivers so there's a math side to it too.

ghost had 9 goals in 41 games. Thats 18 goals for a season.....for a Dman, unreal. Any fans of teams that have struggling pp this year. You deserve to struggle when you couldve had ghost for nothing except his salary.

Maybe, but since it is the flyers they will get lowballed, shorthanded, trapped, screwed and manhandled

I agree with you about Myers, disagree about Ghost, and don't know enough about Frost.

Would it however be unfair to point out that two of the players you have said were underappreciated passed through waivers unclaimed? (The other was Akeson a few years ago)

Well that's sad but to each his own. The result of moves are cumulative. Right now when we look at the team, we see certain things. We see contracts we want to get out from under. We see what the cost of moving a player with a 4M contract was. They filled the hole in the top pairing from the outside. The filled a hole at center previously from the outside. Here's what I bet is going to happen. They'll eventually be contracts we want to get out from under. I look at the defense and I still see the same hole. Who is going to play on the right side on the 2nd pair? The right side hole is still there because we moved the only viable player to fill that internally to fill the top pair. So what are they going to do? Add another contract that we'll eventually want to get out of? There is always a price to pay if you don't do it right. There is even a price to pay if you do it right. It's okay to pay that price if it comes after a high level of success.

Yay, they're back to making splashes every summer to address fundamental team weaknesses. How exciting!

Wallstedt will go in the top 10. Cossa won't make it past 20.
- Sinisalo4vr

If we're taking a goalie in the first round it's Wallstedt or nothing for me. I hope we don't go this route because I have a lot of faith that Hart is the real deal.

I've been reading about/following Wallstedt for 4 years, he's been getting high praise for quite a while. There's a good chance he'll be a Franchise goalie. If we didn't already have Hart I'd be all in for Wallstedt.

Apparently!

Since a kid from Taipei, by way of KY, by way of OH, by way IL, roots for a team from Philly with a large yahoo fan base with whom it is clear he has very little in common.

Ha ha.

I'd be pretty pissed off if they do that as well. Unless they're 110% sure his shoulder is destroyed, this should never occur.

I have sometimes wondered idly why you are such a Phillies fan, an Eagles fan and ...a Flyers hater? How did that happen?
- PT21

Admittedly much younger me thought mario and jagr were the coolest thing going. I obviously missed Mario’s major prime, but the whole coming back from cancer thing/video game themed nickname/player transitioning to owner. Just badass. Then jaromir basically screamed LOTR character, and I thought the hair was cool. It didnt just naturally become Flyers hate, but I guess as I got older being a scrawny naturally inclined contrarian it became cooler to hate the whole “Yeahhhh broad street bullies narrative”. It only became easier over time to lean into the dislike of your typical WIP/xfinity type.

Phillies? Baseball is pretty much every kids first love. My fondest/earliest memories of the Phillies are scrubs like marlon Anderson and Travis Lee. Eagles I watch because I do love football and they’re typically whats on, but I don’t feel a strong emotional tie one way or the other. Same as the sixers.
