Think Chuck knows he has to move fast. He said in his presser that everything needs to happen early as cap will fill up fast around the league. He sees that it will be more difficult to do anything past the second day of FA.

He has made a more then his share of percentage of moves thus far. He is not sitting back. Whether you like his moves or not it has been entertaining as a fan. Gotta hand it to him. He is going after it. His addition of Ellis and exit of Ghost, Patrick and Myers while losing a 2nd round and 7th round pick next year is interesting.

Think losing Myers is the only one that created a tough hole to fill right now.

I liked Ghost but he struggled to fit on the defense. I think another team maybe the best for him and the team. That term is going to be useful.

Patrick is a talent. Not sure he will reach it but he has talent. But like Ghost, he was not finding a fit here. He needs to be on a top nine roll. Not a grinder.

If I had to guess what Fletch is going to do with that money I think he continues to focus on the defense (2RD) and finds a strong veteran defensive center for the 4th line.

Going to be tough to find the cap space for a veteran 4th line center. Even a cheap one. Right now, we have too many scoring line wingers. Now that's taking a leap of faith that Allison will make the team and that Lindblom will rebound. Need to have a spot for Frost also.

First, I don’t like two smallish wingers with Hayes. Second, I want a scorer with Giroux, and if he stays, a scorer with Voracek. That is way too much playmaking and not enough shooting on that line. Thirdly, I might be inclined to pencil Hayes into the 3C until I see how effective his game is post injury and recovery. Last, I am up in the air about NAK after last season’s showing, and I am not certain if Frost starts on the wing.
- NC Flyers Fan

When Hayes was at his best last season, he had TK/Laughton/Farabee/Lindblom as his wingers. No version of that line was particularly physical...

This season was such a disappointment since he put up that 65 point season

You must have skipped math class.

I for one hope it's not something big. Sign Hart and Sanheim. Bring in a backup goalie. I still don't think the defense mix is quite right so I think they'll add another defenseman. Hopefully on a low term low cost deal. Drop the puck.

Agreed. I see him moving one of the cheaper contracts. Maybe NAK. Maybe Allison (but I liked his game last year for sure). Options are Frost on the 3rd line as a center. Laughton plays wing then.

😆 never mind. I’m not a NHL GM or Coach. 👍. I just know this team was missing that last year and really don’t see an internal fit unless Laughton sides down to that fourth line. But he has to many other skills to limit to 4th line minutes and match ups. In my none GM/Coaching brain. 🤦‍♂️

Why would you think they would move Allison to sign a 4th line center?

Part of it might be planning for Cout’s upcoming contract as well…as he enters the last year….G also will be a UFA after this year. It’s starting to show how hard it is to move high priced players.

There’s no such thing as an irrelevant 1 year minimum deal being one of the worst signings 😂 it’s literally minimum term and cap. Like what are you talking about lol. He doesn’t even rank top 30 in flyers all time worst signings

I have a bad feeling we aren't getting any more real cap space.

If it doesn't happen tomorrow I don't think it will happen. Just a feeling that JVR/Jake are less desirable than we thought. And thats PRETTY undesirable.

With the flat cap impacting all teams and free agency, we may be able to find a cheap vet 4C tail end of free agency for a league minimum vet deal, like Perry did with MTL last season. Obviously not ideal playing the waiting game but perhaps it’s a decent back up plan or worst case scenario.

Did you read the part where I said never mind🤣🤣 that I’m not a NHL GM/ Coach.

But what I was thinking is he has some value in this market because he showed well and is cheap. He is a right wing and if they keep everybody then it is Jake, TK (of Frost moves into the 3C) and Laughton in the too 9. But go ahead and crush that because I really like Allison’s game.

Why do you do this to yourself?
Ghost was atrocious early on last year, but actually played pretty steady after that. It really was disappointing after the guy put up 65 points at a young age to see him regress. It’s a tough league.
- landros 2

You always go back to this same well of the 65 point season. First, it wasn’t gonna happen this passed season because it was a 56 point schedule. On top of this, only the elite offensive players do this time again. Expecting him to repeat this or even holding out hope is dopey in itself. What, are you new to watching Flyers hockey?

As a salary dump….yup. Fletch said two other teams in on Ghost asked for York, while the other asked for #13 Friday night.

The good thing is that both are still productive players. If they can't make a decent hockey trade tomorrow, maybe one of then can be moved when the inevitable injuries happen during camps/preseason.

Then we need to hope:

- a healthy Frost
- a full off-season
- a year of maturity for the young guys
- adding Ellis

....are enough. Oof. But not impossible.

Ghost, a 2nd and a 7th for nothing? Is this real? If it is, how many Flyers fans are bowing to this next move? This…this was Ghost’s value?
- SuperSchennBros

It's addition by subtraction. Like other have said, they can still that 2nd back. Who cares about the 7th.

So far

In: Ellis

Out: Myers, Patrick, and Ghost.

I'm ok with it.

It shows what ghost was capable of. Yes I thought he played more steady down the stretch but his play early on was not good. He was no where near the threat he was during his earlier seasons….he actually got worse heading into his “prime years” Players put on waivers aren’t having a very good season. And no it’s not dopey to expect a player to not show such a drop in over all play(points included) when his career year is at 25. That’s not Flyer’s hockey ….that’s hockey in general chief. You must be fairly new to the sport if you can’t grasp that concept.

Maybe as a depth player or a 13th forward. I don't want players signed who are going to block younger players. We have fall back players that can center a 4th line.

No actually Ghost was pretty consistent last year for being on a team that was subpar. It was the season before that Ghost played himself out of the line up and practically sat the entire playoffs. When Ghost was waived, he shouldn’t have been. In fact I believe it cost us a win against Buffalo by him being out of the line up.

It crushes itself. Flyers aren't going to trade Allison in that scenario.
