Let’s all be honest had he left risto unprotected and he got selected people would have been up in arms about losing a player that we have had on our roster for 6 years for nothing. It’s a never emding female dog fest

That isn't true, since many have wanted him gone for four years

Wanting him gone and giving him away are two different things.

Giving Risto away for nothing when he has value makes zero sense.

I would trade Risto straight up for a prospect of Borgen’s caliber

It was really stupid unless they get a lot for him which I doubt they get

Borgen was NHL ready and had good results in a small sample. I’d take that over a late 2nd or 3rd rounder

Winnipeg has called on Risto again and Calgary called on Rhino today.

Also means you free up $5.4 million in cap space which for this year probably doesn't matter but you also get to keep a promising player in Borgen

Thank god you are not the GM then because there is a good chance Borgen gets waived and the sabres can get him back for free.

Trading Risto a top 4 for a top 6 just makes you look desperate not to be wrong.

Its like when some sabres fans were outraged when Kahun didn't sign and there he is UFA again.

Yeah except they replaced Kahun with Eakin, Reider, and gave 3 years to Girgensons.

We’ll see how much money we give to somebody who may be marginally better than Borgen. Already paying Miller over $3M to be marginally better than Borgen

Its like Borgen is 7-8 on the depth chart with Seattle. When he gets waived people will still be claiming Risto should have been unprotected.

Who cares about Borgen, the guy doesn't move the needle. Easily replacable.

The guy isn't going to make or break the team.

Borgen will be in their starting lineup.

Seattle on paper could also be a playoff bubble team in the West.

A cheap young stay at home right handed D man…not paying a guy $5 million to play that role.

It’s how bad teams stay bad.

Borgen one of three right handed defensemen.

I think he makes the team.

He’s like their 2nd or 3rd RD

There’s 0 chance as of now he’s getting waived.

They will keep 8 D on the roster
