Larsson is a decent #3, I would have done a 4x4 as well. He would have been a good add, then trade Boqvist and Strome for a LD. Murphy(your favorite), Larsson, and Mitchell on right side, Kalynuk plus X and X on left side. - Angotti
No Washington State tax vs higher Canadian Income taxes bumps that number slightly. I'd argue he is a #4 on a good team. But yes, he would be a good anchor for the second line for the Hawks. If anything, it sets a benchmark for Zadorov. |

Some of these are close to what I'd suggest:
Gaudette - 2 years @ $950,000 - Hmm?
Hagel - 2 years @ 1,000,000 - even I will say that's low but I think the term is right.
Vinnie - 3 years @ $1.25 million - Not 3 years...
Kampf - 2 years @ $1.25 million - You meant Vinnie's contract here didn't you?
Nylander - 1 year @ $850,000 (I wouldn't go beyond 1 year) - YUP!
Suter - 2 years @ $2 million - Yup again.
Zadorov - 0 years @ $0 - IDK I'm confused. - DarthKane |

I can't believe how many mention taxes, i highly highly doubt the guy signing the contract is really worried about that.

Why? The thousands of people fleeing Illinois are worried about it, why wouldn’t NHL players at least consider it? I’d love to live in California, but the cost of living is too high, and taxes are big part of that cost. |

Moving to las vegas in 3 three years no state tax no toll roads etc.. Save money by moving right there but there is always pro"s and cons in every decision. |

I was hoping there was a way for Seattle to take Colliton in the expansion draft. Maybe as a ‘break down film’ guy. Stan’s fine. |

Yes, but people fleeing IL are making five and six figures, these guys are making seven figures, so they can absorb those taxes much better than the average person. |

Yes the Junior rule is bad it f'd up Dach he was a man playing against boys even when he was pre-workout Dach. He would have had very little development in Juniors risking injury. Instead he got his a-- kicked in the NHL not to mention burning off a year of his contract. - rpeters01
How did he get his ass kicked in the NHL? He was concussed during a rookie tournament, and broke his wrist in the Junior tournament. He came back too soon this year and his wrist couldn't handle it. The previous year, he didn't look out of place and looked really good in the bubble. |

Seems that those making the most, regardless of profession, are the most likely to find ways to avoid paying taxes. |

They can but lots of athletes and celebrities have residences in florida to declare with zero state income taxes. Seeing a lot of people moving from CA to TX, specifically Austin, as that tech area booms...cost of living price per sq ft a home is less then CA, and ZERO state income taxes.
It does play a role and I believe some teams that reside in these states can get away with lower amounts due to said person NOT having to pay state taxes.

I think most of Vegas’ success came from all the side deals, we’ll see how it plays out for the Kraken later today.
Sad truth… Seattle’s defense is already better than Chicago’s. - DarthKane

I have lived in both Texas and California, and yes, the cost of living in Texas is less than California, but real estate prices have soared in places like Austin and Denver. The gap is narrowing. And having lived in Texas for thirty years, I can tell you they make up for it in property taxes. |

They can, but it doesn’t mean they want to. Who would? Also, 5 figures? What like $10k? |

Athletes pay state income taxes based on where each game is played; residency is not relevant. |

I think playing time is way more important to a player than a trivial thing then taxes.
All i pay is taxes, zero debt, so for me its cheaper paying my real estate taxes then renting anything.
And Illinois doesn't tax 401k or pensions, so there is that to
So I'll survive the whopping 3.5% state tax i have to pay. |

Which you are pleased to pay - probably without taking any deductions - because it is a privilege. |
