I mean at some point the elephant in the room is, if we are worried about Eichel, at some point you have to be worried about Zib too right? If the argument becomes "I don't want two expensive injury prone centers leading the team", I perfectly get that.

I was referencing what Coach Carvel called him, so no, I don't think he has Fox's upside, but he is probably going to be a better Torrey Krug/Dmitri Orlov/pick your 2nd pair offensive guy here. If we get 3-4 years of cost controlled d between him and Nils, then that's a HUGE win in the cap era (assuming we get the 1 year of Giordano to help with evaluation/growth of the younger guys). Plus, they'll allow Trouba's bad contract to age better and then he can be traded in 3 years when his NMC becomes a modified NTC. It's the NHL, so guys will get hurt and subs will play. I'm fine with 7d (with Schneider) the next 3 years because 3-4 of them won't cost very much, but I want to see the kids play (under Gallant) before we trade them..... unless it's for an uninjured 2 way center. That's how I'm looking at this.

I though that too, but this expansion draft doesn't have the 4-5 moronic decisions that really propped up Vegas' team, so no matter what SEA did, the team wasn't going to look great. I think they're relying on scarcity of D guys with some upside bets, so they can then trade a lot of these guys and build through the next few drafts.

Relatedly, do we find out the side deals tonight or is that tomorrow?
