Technically if they went the 7-3-1 route Kerfoot and mcCann would have been protected, so it would have been Holl, Dermott or the Giraffe or Mikey.

The choice was Mccann/Kerfoot or Holl.

They chose Holl. I don't like the choice, but I see the logic if they believe Holl can continue to be effective in a top 4 role for only 2 million. But I would have left him exposed.

Not all assets are equal. Its not like a 7th round pick is equal to Kerfoot. If they lose McCann, they lost a 7th and Hallander. Francis was asking for a 1st and a 3rd for them to change picks and not pick specific players.....whats a better deal, Hallander and a 3rd, or a 1st and a 3rd?

i think we all know the answer. What would Hallander fetch as far as a draft pick? Not much id imagine. What could you get for Kerfoot post expansion draft? Probably better then Hallander and a 7th...
