Yeah, it'd be an interesting exercise speculating what those teams might have been had the rules been in place back then. Granted, no salary cap was in place at that time, but I don't think there were too many teams who were wildly different in terms of salary than others (I could be wrong). - mjones242
Teams were allowed to protect 2 goalies. 🤣 |

Which is unfortunate cause now simpletons like max have some ammo to load into the cannon and we get to hear about it all summer long. - joel878
Meh, obviously Dubas didn’t want McCann.
🤷🏻‍♂️

The Leafs prospect pool is pretty barren. Do you feel like Kerfoot or McCann is really an answer that pushes the needle? Do we really need either of those guys or do we need an actual 3C more (I think, yes).
I think Dubas galaxy brained this one.
I'm not losing sleep over losing Hallander but I just don't see why we had to make any move. - mjones242
Protecting 7 forwards would've allowed them to keep both McCann and kerfoot, then trade kerfoot after his bonus was paid to a team that has an internal cap. Losing Holl or Dermott doesn't effect us that much compared to the assets we lose by not keeping both of those forwards. |

Yeah, this team definitely needs to learn how to play playoff hockey. - mjones242
Nah, they'll try the same reg season play again....according to dubie stats, one of these days it has to work. |

Why am I so irrationally disappointed that McCann is gone? I wanted a shiny new toy. |

You should probably wait and see what he does with Kerfoot. |

They didnt want to lose Holl.
They'd have to pay more cap to replace him which takes more money to spend on forwards and a goalie. |

A little weight, he'll need enough for himself and Marner combined. - bobbyisno1
He’s playing with Matthews and Nylander 🙄
I was demoting Marner to make you sucka’s happy |

Looks like the Kraken selected Jared McCann.

But Dubie likes the shiny toys he already has. |

Well if Seattle does take McCann...Dregs will have to delete his pre prepped tweets about how the leafs were not going to be able to afford to sign him to an extension.
Dammit, we were looking forward to those.

Could've kept him for at worst Holl. Definitely seems like a good trade-off, McCann for Holl. But I guess Dubas is smarter than all of us. |

Dermott takes his spot, liljegren or a 6th D for a mil on the 3rd pairing. |

I really dont get this. Its one thing to disagree with the expansion list but to not see any value in having Holl at 2M blows my mind.
The Muzzin-Holl pairing is effective. All of you were complaining about scoring and D from the forwards and keeping Holl allows them to add there. Maybe Dubas is smarter than all of us.
