If Kerfoot is taken I want to see all of their supposed alternate takes.

I made the mistake of reading some of the bickering over the tade in the last thread. The McCann trade if you understand it, was kinda pretty (frank)in smart IMO.
The Kraken were gonna take someone no matter what (remember this). So the Leafs swindle the Pens into trading them a 3rd line center for a b-spec and a 7th (peanuts).
Some people think if the Kraken take McCann the Leafs will have lost the 3rd line center, the b-spec and the 7th. . That's not the case, remember ^^^, the Kraken were gonna take someone no matter what.
It basically turns out that all the Leafs will lose in the end is a b-spec and a 7th....... Peanuts

So a friend of mine always wants to lose weight. He has this cycle where every year he goes on this health kick. (Good for him honestly.) However, he has this guaranteed cycle of constantly posting health studies in our discord, constantly has a new messiah scientist and how this new study is showing how old things don't work and a new thing is the saviour to weight loss.

Like clockwork he worships this person. Posts studies and youtube videos, talks about lipids or tells an anecdotal story of a previous time.

Anyway another friend and I build a bingo card for it. It's been 2 hours and we almost have to start the game over....

I feel bad kind but I don't haha. I do wish him to lose the weight he wants but hey I can have some fun too.

About five years ago, my brother self-diagnosed - he had Celiac disease.

That's what was causing him to be overweight and feel bloated.

And give the guy credit, he did lose a little bit of weight to start.

I tried to explain to him that the weight loss was only because he was drinking less beer and eating less pizza and other carb loads.

He called me an arsehole.

And then four months later he quietly declared himself cured of Celiac disease, and went back to stuffing himself with carbs.

Good times.

I’ve already ordered his jersey. And I do NOT want to look more of an idiot than I already do. It is a Leafs jersey after all…

I still say Dubas sucks and the Penguins swindled us and 1967 and wafflegate and 4-1 and Marner disappears.

When I worked in hospitality similar stories were people would say they had celiac disease or were vegetarians until they saw the meal the others had.

Once upon a time, I had a boss who was always travelling.

He said that you should always order a special meal on an airplane - veggie, kosher, whatever - because they made it in smaller batches, so it was better.

I never tried it, but he swore it was true.

It’s hard to just brush this one off...especially with all the heavy Kerfoot rumours the last month.

It feels like he’s been there guy and it’s not changing.

- Santo_44

He's local and Francis was said to really like him as a player. I agree. He may have even told Dubas that if he left Kerfoot unprotected he was going to take him. Who knows? They go way back. It's one of those things. If Kerfoot leaves, I'm not going to be sad to see him go - but I thought he'd be more. We got him at the apex of his development, I think - and a 40pt guy (if you give him sufficient power play time and a defined role) is what he is. McCann has better 5v5 production numbers, hits a little more and gives the puck away a little less. I would be willing to bet that he also isn't pasted like a decal to the boards 3 times a game like Kerfoot is. He seems preferrable. He also sucks in the faceoff circle, so at least we won't have to alter our expectations there.

Maybe Dubas knows Seattle really likes McCann and he wanted to use him as trade collateral 🤔

Kerfoot as expansion pick

Then, McCann and Dermott to Kraken for a goalie (Kahkonen or Wedgewood) and another forward?

Reacting to a stupid tweet, I looked up the roster of the 1988 Edmonton Oilers.

They Kurri and Tikkanen.

Every single other player was Canadian.

Times have changed.

Yep, he's basically ensured that the expansion draft would not affect the team as a whole at minimal cost. Not too shabby.

Can we get the stench of BUF off of Colin Miller? I don't think so.

Kähkönen is interesting though but he's still so green I'm not sure if I'd want him playing 30-40 games with Jack. Still want Ullmark who, I think, has been pretty immune to said Sabre stench.

Just out of curiosity... (not to Richard punch you specifically), do the people of seattle consider players from BC to be 'local'?

I see that word a lot, I get that it's right there, but is a different country and they do have their own team which is sure to be a bitter rival after all.

I live an hour from Montana and there is a grand total of exactly zero people from Montana I would consider to be local.

I've literally spoken to people in Montana who couldn't name one city in Alberta.

You kind of wonder if it would have been better to just let Seattle take Kerfoot from TOR and McCann from PIT.

Then see where things stand post-expansion and still have Hallander in your pocket as a tradeable asset or decent prospect.

I dunno, I'm not feeling this potential status quo vibe I'm getting from Dubas. It could all be in my head, it probably is in my head, or he's right and this team is one less star injury away from a deep run.

I think they could only get McCann for Hallander because of the expansion draft pressure. Im sure the price for a player like him will be much higher after this.

I do get being unimpressed by the status quo though, I think the main thing at this point is they not get hurt by expansion. After the draft hopefully they make some meaningful changes.

I know so many people who get into the latest fad diet. Or they believe inane nutritional ideas because four different 'doctors' said the same thing on youtube. They don't understand algorithms.

Nobody wants to hear the weird, secret trick of being fit. Balanced healthy diet and relentless exercise.

I think that’s it. Their sense of getting hurt is not having to replace the $2M guy and ensuring they have a feasible 3rd line guy in either McCann or Kerfoot.

In spite of our sensibilities, Keefe has a lot of confidence in Holl and Dubas just doesn’t want to mess around to find someone they can trust for that money. If McCann goes, they end up with the same roster and the same options for moving Kerfoot’s $3.5M

To his credit some stuff he finds is good. Like how sugar is too prevalent and its essentially an addiction and horrible for us.

However, otherwise you're right. He claims to eat 1500 calories a day and work out a lot and yet doesn't lose much.

Man what a favour if this goes the way we hope it does.

Kerfoot gone. McCann in for cheaper. All for Hollander and a 7th.

Maybe. But is McCann what this team needs? Is he really a Top 6 W? Surely, he's not an answer as a 3C.

Kind of wonder if Dubas galaxy brained this one.

But I've been soaking in skepticism for some time now and may have lost all critical perspective.
