Right. I forgot about the “now we can’t trade Kerfoot” rule

I dunno who is going to trade much for him at this point.

Did they take any salary at all?

I mean, from this side of the fence... It looks like Francis has (frank)ed this up so bad it's crazy.

He’s gonna sign the good UFA’s to salary instead.

If Seravalli is right and the Kraken do take McCann. We essentially lost McCann, Hallander and a 7th just to protect Kerfoot. So why trade him now?

He is owed less than 3.5 million cash over the next two years.

For a team more concerned about $$$ than cap hit - he is a deal.

Bye bye Mccann

You assured they were taking Kerfoot.

Still want that bet? 🤦🏻‍♂️

Unfortunate.

Ok. So let's trade Kerfoot for more than Hallander and a 7th and we can put this entire expansion nightmare to bed as a net win.

Not how it works.

Need the cap space to make upgrades. He's not the 3rd like C we need

I am surprised that's for sure.

But I am shocked of a lot of these moves right now. Seattle is looking pretty garbage.

Ok. I'll make this as simple as possible. Honestly.

Would you count it as a win if the Leafs traded Kerfoot to the Pens (Post expansion) for Hallander and a third?

If you say you would have preferred that the Leafs not make the Mccann trade and simply let the Kraken take Kerfoot - then I honestly cannot help you.

Kraken take Gio from the flames.
Looks like most teams are opening up some cap space as a result of the expansion picks.

Well except the leafs.

I used this example

I think the return is better but yes this is essentially how it works.

If the Leafs didnt make that trade they would have Hallinder and not Kerfoot or Mccann.

Now they have Kerfoot and not Hallinder and Mccann

I would count it as a win if they traded Kerfoot for a better cheaper player and used the remaining cap wiser. I think they already had that opportunity and pissed it away though.

I would have preferred the latter option. Keep our asset, let them take Kerfoot... And use the cap space better.

I can respect that I'm in the minority on that.

Mccann only got Hallinder and a 7th before the expansion draft, what makes you think Kerfoot would get more?

Kerfoot is worth a lot more than he was 3 days ago.

I meant now that desperation prices have gone away.

I think they (frank)ed it all up, but they can still make up for it.

McCann would be a better fit at 3C then Kerfoot is..

Dubas failed.

Forget the 7-3 and 4-4 decision.

You have 3 assets involved in this.

Hallinder, Kerfoot, Mccann

Rank in order which you'd rather have today.

Here is mine

Mccann
Kerfoot
Hallinder

Dubas can change that based in the Kerfoot return.

I think you need to wait and see who they have at 3C + the Kerfoot return before you can say this.

to make it as simple as possible, Leafs should have gone 7-3-1 and protected McCann..

It was a good trade until they decided not to protect him.. It's a fail on Dubas in my opinion
