He is a 2C on Arizona.. Would not be a 2C here, unless something is really wrong with Tavares. Playing 3C here would give him less ice time.
- PatC80

Could play LW as well.

Given the LW depth is wide open he'd have opportunities to flip back and forth.

Plus eventually the Leafs will entertain JT on the wing.

Sources say #SeaKraken also passed on another high-profile, big money player: Vladimir Tarasenko.

Subject to change but sounds like the selection from #stlblues will be Vince Dunn.

BREAKING: Sources tell
@DFOHockey
the #SeaKraken have NOT selected Carey Price from Montreal in the Expansion Draft.

The #Habs keep their goaltending duo in-tact, but are likely to lose defenseman Cale Fleury.

He hasnt had more then 38 points, and while he had a decent season last year, where is this huge jump from Kerfoot? At least Kerfoot is decent defensively.

You think Dvorak is going to score more on the leafs playing 3rd line duty? No chance.

Kerfoots 24 yo season he scored 42 points and that's more then Dvorak has ever had. Oh and Dvorak Hasan higher cap hit. He's not what the leafs need

- Archaic

It's close, but there are things that separate Dvorak. Last year Kerfoot had 20 even strength points to Dvorak's 19, and Dvorak played nearly a minute more 5v5 time. Dvorak played much of the year with Crouse and Pitlick, but he had a fair shake with Kessell and Keller. Kerfoot played a fair amount of the year with Mikheyev, and a litany of other players - which was led by (in descending order) Nylander, Engvall, Spezza, Simmonds . . . who had the better opportunity to produce points? I don't know.

I will say that individual metrics - chances generated, rush attempts, individual high danger chances, hits, hits taken (really this one) all favoured Dvorak. In some cases more considerably than others.

The argument that he was good with Marner in junior is probably moot because they won't play together. So if Dvorak can stand on his own as a better player, then it's something you'd consider. If Dvorak isn't significantly better, I wouldn't want to increase our cap hit by $1m for the 3C position.

Or when you get more minute then you would, you get more points then you would on a good team....look at Connor Brown for example or others like that.

You are truly overeating Dvorak

- Archaic

I am not, he grades out as a 2C following the stats.

And in watching some video he has a lethal shot, absolutely would score more goals with more looks.

Had a xGar of 3.7 on offence last season. 1 higher than JT Miller...He can drive offence its proven on that front, just needs to be on a better team.

Whatever happened to expansion clubs paying their (frank)ing dues and sucking for a few years?

Seattle makes the post-season for sure this year.

- mjones242

Remember how bad Ottawa and Tampa were? They really got screwed by the NHL. I get it. You pay 650 mil you should get a fair shake. But man what a difference!

Because he's not that good and yet we can pretending that he is because he's cheap.

Ok. I guess actually getting the job done is less important than everyone’s aesthetic sensibilities.

I definitely don't anything about him. How much do you think he signs for on a new contract?

Would be great to have a cheap Hyman-ish option!

- mjones242

Signed for 2.1M a few seasons ago after similar results. I'd say a tad less with flat cap.

3 years at 1.75M? I'd be happy with that, He is 27 and is from Fergus.

Dvorak is worlds better than Kerfoot defensively...Check Kerfoots D stats when playing C, they aren't good.

Kerfoot played on the Avs with Nathan MacKinnon.

Dvorak can drive offence and is strong in his own zone, can actually play C well.

Points are whatever, they'd be higher on a team that can actually score. He has a lethal shot and drives offence.

- Santo_44

As you've said several times in the past, you only watch leafs games....so have you ever watched Dvorak play?
He will most likely get less playing time on the leafs on the 3rd line than he does now.

His stay was short-lived in Toronto. The #SeaKraken will be selecting Jared McCann from the #Leafs.

The end result: Toronto traded prospect Filip Hallander and a 7th round pick to Pittsburgh to essentially protect their roster from Seattle.

Not as much as anyone on here. Watched some video and I can say as the scouting report says, he does have a lethal shot.

He drives offence.

And he can play LW too....He won't be always a 3C.

And he is great in his own zone which is the important part here...also 55% at the dot.

Oh and he can PK The Leafs finally get a C that can (frank)ing PK.

I think what everyone is saying is:

Imagine the results if Muzzin had a good partner.

Because losing in the 1st round is not a good result.

All those same people have spent the replacement costs a dozen times already on other things - power forwards, new bottom 6 guys, goalies.

I’m just saying pick your shots

It's interesting in that they felt they were giving Vegas a shot at legitimacy without making them a top tier team. It's like no one considered that having a top-6 comprised of top-4 defensemen was better than most teams in the league who only had 3 top-4 defensemen to begin with or left on their roster. There's usually at least one or two top pairing defensemen available due to cap considerations.

Every forward you draft is a top-9 candidate or possibly better if there's cap considerations that you don't face.

Every goalie you draft is at least a 1B or better if there's considerations that you don't face.

Mathematically if you assume that every team is the same, and every team protects the exact same calibre of player, then the new expansion team won't be as good as the any given team in the league based on these rules. But if you factor in variation, contracts, cap, inaccurate assessment and opportunity/mistakes - the advantage weighs heavily in the the favour of the expansion team to be above average.

Oh trade everyone then, lets not look at each situation individually.

All 1st round exits? Trade Matthews he doesn't work.
