I have a feeling Jones is traded to a contender at his one-year salary of 5.25 or so and then makes a run for the money as an UFA next summer.

Between the two, I would rather have Sillinger (even though we all know Raty is the right choice).
- DarthKane

Imagine Foley with Stillman and Stillinger on the ice at the same time.

The Kings do want another top 6 forward. They were seeking two and got one already in nabbing Arvidsson from the Predators.

On the Predators, especially with Arvidsson and Ellis gone, look for Forsberg to possibly want out. He was pretty vocal about his displeasure with the Arvidsson trade.

The Predators definitely want to move out Johansen and Duchene but one of them alone will be really hard with their contracts.

I wouldn't want either of them anyway but would at least kick the tires on Forsberg (26 y/o). He has one year left at $6M before becoming a UFA.

Trading for Forsberg by any team would require a trade and sign or else it's the same situation as Jones. Just wait for him to hit free agency next summer and keep the assets.

- Theo Fox

Apparently they're looking for a left wing and a young LD

If Price selected, the league says Seattle can't retain salary and trade him back to Montreal. He can be traded to anyone else with salary retained, but he has to waive his NMC after being selected by Seattle.
- boilermaker100

So Seattle trades him to Hawks, Hawks retain salary as well and trade him back to Montreal, can NHL say no?

Bettman hates the Hawks so he won’t let them do it.

What package could the hawks put together to move to 8? Might be better off trading with Vancouver at 9 and taking a bad contract back. To gey 9th overall pick. Say hawks take either ferland or Eriksson contract prospect and 9th overall pick for 12th overall pick.

I was thinking the same thing (not so much Blackhawks but any team). What about next season? If he has surgery and is on LTIR, Mtl would not have him anyway. The league really screwed up these expansion drafts.

Why do you think the league screwed up the expansion drafts? Personally I don’t see a problem. What is the issue you’re seeing?

Why take a bad contract for 3 spots especially since the player you want might be there anyway

Because they are allowed to make deals before the draft. But they do not allow them to make deal(s) after the draft?
The way it should be handled is, day after SC, teams provide protected list. Next day expansion team drafts. Now, the team has players, they can make moves just like any other team. Yes, they screwed the Vegas draft first!

Like a real team's top six or what passes for a top 6 on the current Hawks?
- Rota's Rooter

We'll let the trade partner decide. Maybe they will have a different set of glasses than we have.

Might be able to get a real good prospect or expand the trade and try and get Boeser. Just spitballing an idea that's all.

So after Seattle doesn't take him, trade them Gaudette

Kampf Is one dimensional and a liability with a flat cap, Gaudette Is far more talented.

From what I understand, the only restrictions/differences that run counter to this is that there are two weeks between the end of the Cup final and the draft, and that a team can't circumvent the cap by exposing a player to SEA, having them pick the player and then trade said player back to the original team with cap retained.

I don't think that is unreasonable at all. Where is your concern?

For playoff teams, Cap Space is king. I would allow taking the Erickson contract for the 9th overall lol. Even if it meant throwing in a 4th round to essentially “move up” to 9th overall. Wonder what Tampa will have to give up to clear $10 mil or more off their books.

Honestly, since we’re not close to winning yet; would rather them collect picks in ‘22 draft which is considered deep. If there was a year to ever not be good….this upcoming year might be it. Wiz/Theo may have more info, but ‘22 top 5 draft prospects are supposedly generational/elite. There’s always a chance of a Cam Barker… but just saying it’s supposed to be a pretty good draft compared to this years.

And is it Strome’s skating or his motor that is the issue. For me it is his motor I see him coasting or standing way too often.
- Ztra

Same difference. Motor doesn't matter if you can't move and moving doesn't matter if you aren't fit.

I think he was moving pretty well - at least noticeably better than the year before before he got hurt. So he did put in some work which was good but didn't put it all together for whatever reason.

What I am indirectly saying is that unless you've got wheels, being 6'3 and 200 lbs (with all his hockey gear on) isn't a whole lot different than 5'10 and 170 and if you're not gonna go around guys then having the strength to push them over may be a good pivot.

I don’t see the advantage or are you suggesting the expansion team has more opportunity to build a team because of this?
