the clean bill of health is going to be important - but if he's just upset at the blues org for how they treated his shoulder and wants to leave - and not that the blues are trying to shop an injured player - the blues aren't really dealing with any leverage at all so I'd risk it. Sniper, change the locker room, one less year. All good things. - black_francis
Yeah, that’s what I need to know first. That the shoulder isn’t an issue. Trading Jake for damaged goods with a big cap hit really doesn’t accomplish much. |

I’d sooner take Ryan Johansen than Tarasenko. There’s something not right with that whole Tarasenko thing. - hereticpride
You’re high, that Johansson contract is HORRIBLE. |

JvR was a healthy scratch several times in the 2020 playoffs. Hayes was a healthy scratch a game this past season. So was TK. |

It is. I don’t even want Johansen. But a healthy player is better than a permanently damaged player. Seattle needs to get full medical access to Tarasenko before I work out some three team ED deal for him. |

I liked the Ellis trade. IMO, he is the type of player that we need. A great passer, PK’er that commands respect in the locker room. Fingers crossed he stays healthy.
I’m also hoping the Flyers can lure Savard here in FA at a reasonable cap hit.
Jake for Tarasanko? Okay, let’s do it, provided the sweetener isn’t our 1st rounder.
What are the rules surrounding trades and injury due diligence? Does anybody know? I would assume you would get full access to medical records and a physical before making a trade. |

I don't get why anyone thinks its the Flyers who should be throwing in the sweetener.

I don’t think we should either, but it seems to be the consensus, outside of this forum as well. IMO, Jake is the more reliable player, but a shake up is needed and his production has to be replaced somehow. |

Why can't the Flyers have players without major concerns and doubt all the time? |

If Tarasenko is healthy (and there's no guarantee that he is)....but IF he is, I'd make that trade.
G is not a goal-scorer anymore. He's more of a set-up man. We need a sniper. |

You won't know until he plays....he could end up being the leading goal scorer for the league the first 20 games then bam out for the rest. There is no test that says "Ding everything is good/bad". |

I also think Ghost is Seattle’s most likely target, however, if they take one of JVR or Voracek it leaves a big hole in the top six as far as an offensive winger. - DraftandDestroy
If I am Frances I take Deangelo over Ghost..He is a superior player offensively and defensively....plays with an edge and has same 4.5M hit but only for 1 yr. |

I would not include a 1st at all unless there is more to that deal.
Also tells you what some teams think about Jakes value. Guess to some maybe it isn't all about points. |

ADA could in theory be taken and again in theory would be a better selection, but how would he react living in the land of CHAZ. |

I saw a lot of posts in the previous blog about the viability of giving a long term contract to Couturier using Bergeron's continued excellence deep in his 30s as an example. But imo, the similarity of the 2 players regarding style of play is not so relevant (unless you believe that style of play somehow produces longevity which is obviously easily refuted: see Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and many others).
The correct comparison should be the # of contracts already committed to by team at the time of awarding the contract, the position the player plays, and the age. In all of those, the comparison should be with the Krejci contract, not the Bergeron one.
Krejci was 1C, like Couturier. Krejci was 29, like Couturier will be. The contract of Bergeron was already committed to, just like the Hayes one is. Krejci got the more expensive deal of the 2 centers, just like Couturier will. The cap hit % of Krejci was 10% of salary cap, just like Couturier one will at least be.
Krejci's regular season ppg in the 7 years before and 6 years since have remained remarkably same. But his post-season production dropped by 10% before and after contract. More importantly, Boston was stacked at the time and just a few years removed from a cup run (unlike us), but in spite of the emergence of Pasta since, they never delivered again and their window is very likely closed with that core.
In summary, I am not sure the comparison of the Couts contract to the Bergeron contract proves what people want it to prove. Assuming of course, the ultimate goal is to win a cup, and have everything else be subservient to that. |

Why do people ignore the baggage that comes with Tony D? I wouldnt take him, i think we have enough culture issues here without him? There's a reason he was sent home, and didn't have much to do with his skill level. |
