Let's just average out the "higher salaried" exposed players at $4M. If the Pens suddenly have $7M in cap room to work with ($4M + McCann's $3M)... what are the best options...
Ideally, we keep shuffling and get Landeskog to sign here. Outside of that fantasy...I personally would prefer to spend it on a Coleman, Saad, Hyman, etc rather than an expensive goalie. Paying a poop ton of money to a goalie is fools gold. |

I just thinks its a dumb funny name for an arena. I dont want to get into the climate change debate but in my country its meant another f'n way to tax us. Climates have been changing for billions of years...now I do think we'd be ignorant to think the last 200ish years that humans haven't sped up the process at all...but to what degree? In my own country we have the 2nd largest land mass in the world and we're very sparsely populated, we have more land than the USA but only 1/11 the population of there and from coast to coast we are covered in lush green vegatation...so why is there no discussion about how much clean air we're making?....then you look at the really big polluters of the world, China and India, and they dont seem to give a flying F about climate change haha.
Anyway, back to hockey, I can't wait to watch the expansion draft in few days haha. Not so confident on Zucker being taken anymore, especially after seeing Francis' interview saying their biggest asset is cap space and there are a lot of great wingers available. |

hahah you sound like a specialist in the climate area.
As for Zucker and Pettersson I could only see them taking one of them if we give draft picks away. Since we lost McCann I'm not so sure I'd want to lose Zucker for free anymore....he can turn it around. |

Perhaps anecdotal, but the cup winning goalie is a 9.5 mill cap hit and the runner up 10.5. Then you had the Knights in the final four with MAF/Lehner a combined 12 mill.
I was all about cheap'n out on the goalies this past season with a combined 4.75 but after these past playoffs I'm not against bringing in some more cap hit for that position. |

That I am not, nor will I pretend to be, but I mean personally, on my property there's a half dozen 200+ year old maple trees, an apple tree, a massive back yard and pretty big front yard. I barely use my car at all, its 4 years old and there's only 7000 km (4349 miles) on it....so from my life and what I own Im making more clean air than bad, much more hahah...but by all means government, f'n tax me some more...
....annnd back to hockey. I liked our forward depth last season but with McCann gone now and Zucker potentially, it will take a hit. I will say again though, I'm not judging this offseason until the end of September. So far I havent been a fan though hahah |

Crosby, Malkin and Carter will be 34, 35 and 36 to start the season this year. With Malkin pretty broken and the top 6 getting shut down in the playoffs...I think they need top 6 support. Ideally they lose Pets, maybe push Zucker to the 3rd line?
Perhaps Hallander fills in 4C while Malkin is out? |

I'm banking on us giving a chance to a couple of our AHL guys (Zohorna, Miletic etc.). Gaudreau is definitely a guy I'd love to keep. |

The only player I think would sign here out of that group is Saad and it's mostly because he has had success and has ties to the area. Landeskog signing for only 7 mill here instead of Colorado, who is set for a decade of cup runs, just doesn't make sense. |

I find him a very smart player. Just a gamer. He can hold on to the puck, skate and pass. |

People always talk about "speeding up the process" and things like that, but the real damage is the billions upon trillions of garbage in our environments and the poop ton of micro plastics we unknowingly consume because of it. It's not just about rising temperatures and sea levels. And yes, the #1 culprit is China, but the US isn't too far behind. Can't speak of ya'll northerners though. |

Yeah been busy with the pup and my parents came into town late Saturday night and have more relatives coming in tonight.
The pup is doing good all things considered. He has a condition that causes some brain tissue inflammation but hopefully we caught it early enough. He got started on a chemo treatment he will get monthly and a couple daily meds one being an anti seizure med. |

I like this. I'm glad people are realizing out environment needs to ve protected. Funny thing is, the planet is greener now more than 100 hundred years ago. America's air quality and water quality has gotten much better over the past decade. Gotta put presser on India and China dumping trash into the ocean. Thats really the number 1 issue. |

Geologist here... The evidence of climate change is real. Many different taxa are moving poleward to escape the heat, glaciers are retreating at rates which far outpace the norm in terms of geologic time, there are many different bio signatures which show the greenhouse gasses (which are coupled with avg. global temp) have exponentially increased since the industrial revolution. Like you said, climate has changed many times over the earths history but think of the rate of change. Our globes avg. temp has increased ~2-3 degrees C in the last 70 years. In geologic time, a natural change like that would need thousands-hundreds of thousands of years. Yet, we are supposed to go business as usual?

I also think that it is "lazy thinking" to say "I am making a carbon deficit so don't tax me". You are contributing to far more than you think. Do you eat meat? chicken? take flights ever? do you buy shoes which come from robust factories? The finger pointing needs to stop. Besides, talking about vegetation being so green and thriving is a direct result from more carbon in the atmosphere. Of course they are thriving right now. |
