Nonsense, its not going to happen. If these are such good players, then why don't either of them play good?? And don't give me crap that they are still young. There are too many young players (19,20 and 21 years old) that come into this league and light it up for me to be worried about their potential. I for one am sick of potential, and would rather watch good players play hockey!

Myers may end up being good. A top 4 guy. He has the size and raw skills.

He will never be as good as Ryan Ellis is right now at 30.

Losing Myers is minimal in my eyes. He was a UFA, not drafted, so a completely baggage free player to use to get back a huge asset. It takes some of the sting off of losing Patrick and that ill fated 2nd overall pick. (from an assets lost standpoint)

Nashville protected 5 D-men 3 forwards.
I think they are the only team to do this.

Unloading Ellis and his 6 years remaining contract played a role in the Flyers giving up only Myers and Patrick.

They have 18-19 players who are RFA or FA this summer and next summer.

Including needing a backup goalie for Saros this summer and losing a player in the expansion draft. That makes it about 20 players they need to resign or replace.

Nashville wanted the cap space. They have a ton of moves/signings to deal with.

MJL says they didn't need the cap space. How dare you.

Or Myers will never get it and be a bottom pair guy who wonders around the league because teams see his size and skill thinking this is the year he puts it together.

if this if that. He goes o to have a great career, oh well. Guess the flyers should have been patient and just waited another 2 years from being 2 years away.

If I can trade 13 and my second to get Kent Johnson I do it.

Just putting it out there.

Not only this but he just turned 30. It’s the same concerns when we signed Kevin Hayes where you know the player should be at least good for the first half of his deal but sooner or later age will catch up. All Ryan Ellis’ success came from his 20’s. I’m not saying this year Ellis will be bad or even the following season. I’m saying everyone slows down, hints Jake and G, which most want to move on from. Also the names of Mark Howe and Kimmo Timonen were just brought up. I know the blog says he’s not comparing him to those two players but the names still came up, which is high praise. Maybe even too high. Provorov is supposed to be our guy. Timonen was our guy who was an All-Star and connected to Norris voting most seasons.

that asset (Patrick) also sort of fell into our lap. We didn't have to endure a "second overall pick" type of bad season to get/use that asset.

Anyone else surprised Montreal left Price unprotected? That is a massive cap hit for 5 more years. If Seattle chooses him that would certainly change their strategy in terms of who else they pick, especially higher cap hit players.

A little yea, given their recent run in the playoffs. I just read Seattle is planning on taking Driedger so it may be all moot.

Or they can take Killorn (versatlile, smart, adds grit). Or Palat (TB's 2nd leading scorer this past season and a proven two-way player).
- bmeltzer

I disagree. Everyone knows TB NEEDS this to happen for cap reasons. If I'm Francis I say I'm taking Foote unless TB adds something significant to take a larger contract.

Inelegantly phrased, but he clearly meant that Ellis is at the cusp of an age (30) where players tend to start a decline, and we don't know how he will do on the other side of it yet.

AntSanPhilly says we are getting Tarasenko for Voracek and a 2nd or 3rd then losing Hagg as their pick…. It’s happening!

Sounds more like just speculation on his part. But Ill take it if it happens.

And Fletcher told us two very important things of note for us to cobble together…

He talked with Jake Voracek about the Flyers needing to get better, and that his time here might be coming to a close and that Jake understands. After all, Voracek did an interview in the Czech Republic, saying as much.
Fletcher told us that he talked to Francis about the possibility of the Kraken taking a player in the expansion draft for the Flyers and then trading that player to the Flyers for a package.
That information, combined with some more info that has come my way from a couple sources, one within the Flyers organization, and one outside of it, has led me to the following scenario:

The Kraken will select Vladimir Tarasenko from the St. Louis Blues in the expansion draft.
Seattle will then trade Tarasenko to the Flyers for Voracek and a draft pick. I’m told it’s not the first rounder either. So, let’s say a 2 or a 3.
The Kraken then select Robert Hägg from the Flyers in the expansion draft.
This is certainly fluid, and could change in the next day or so, but from what I can gather, and putting the puzzle pieces together, this is next on Chuck Fletcher’s flow chart.

It also makes sense considering Voracek had his best season in the NHL playing for Hakstol, and Hakstol basically let Voracek play his game when he was his coach.

If Fletcher makes that deal he should be fired for incompetence.

Read that too. It’ll be interesting to see how aggressive he plans on being. I’ve said it all the time the core chemistry needs a shake up and I do expect Jake gone. I like him but we desperately need that kind of change here.

? explain how that is incompetence.

Tarasenko does have injury concerns yes, on the other hand you have Voracek who is on an even bigger contract for an extra year. Tarasenko fills a goal scorer/sniper role that the Flyers have been missing as well. 2nd or 3rd round pick isnt something I will lose sleep over.

I would trade Jake and a 2nd or 3rd for Tarasenko.

I would love it even more if they took Ghost instead of Hagg.

That’s how I see it as well. If he’s healthy he can help and you’re right. He is more of a game breaker than setup guy like Jake. We have lots of setup guys I’d say. Further, tarasenko is a cup winner. More than anything it’s my belief the culture/chemistry needs a change.

At least I use them correctly.

I am not picking a fight, least of all with you. Its all part of the give and take of a frank exchange among men on a sports board. *smile*

I don't try to be intellectually superior at all. Why would I want to do that here, of all places, at my age? I do however, speak my mind, and am not particularly bothered by rebuttals that relate to persona rather than post.

What you wrote in the original post was flat out rubbish. A hockey team "owes" nothing to its players, even star players, for one. The rest of it was drivel as well.

I see you as an absolutely wonderful guy, a guy I would buy a few beers for in a night of shooting the breeze, but with no idea whatsoever of how to build an organization. There are worse flaws I suppose.

- PT21

Your garbage Sheldon. Stop backtracking when your called out dissing someone for having a different opinion than yours. Being a miserable person doesn’t give you the right to come on here and belittle people. You act like a child that’s been neglected. You always come off as some intellectual but your a boring mess.

Poile undid one of his screw-ups with this move. Ellis is undersized and injury prone. I no longer have to watch him get thrown around like a rag doll in the playoffs.

Then you’ll see team that has very very little chance to win cup 🤷‍♂️
