Seattle picks Price, then trades him back to Mtl with salary retained. Basically Mtl gets to rework Price's salary. Bettman told me.

If the Kraken want Hino they can wait until after the expansion draft to sign him. So they will take a player from the Hawks and then after the draft sign Hino.
- Ztra

I'd like the expansion draft to be completed and the Hawks announce they've agreed to terms with Vinnie. He gives it all and had decent stats with his limited time with the Hawks last year. He's good on the bottom six and he's a Chicago boy.

If the Hawks suck so bad, why are the Kraken burdening themselves with not only one, but two players from this wretch of a team?

Agreed, but I think it would have been even more unlikely that Kampf would have been picked. Apparently Stan disagrees. Oh well.
- Ogilthorpe2

I believe Kampf is one of those culture guys they like to keep around, like Murphy, always
training and trying to improve their game

I know you are ranting a bit here, but I was reading yesterday that this particular situation would likely not be approved by the league.

They did account for it, sort of, they gave the Kraken 3 days of exclusive negotiating rights, and if they are able to make a deal, that player counts as the choice from their previous team.

So you look at UFA's like Ovi, while its unlikely, say the Kraken convince him to sign, the Caps took a chance and lost. Or look at Price, waives his NMC and MTL takes a chance that his contract will make his choice by the Kraken unlikely allowing them to in effect "protect" two goalies. If the Kraken say f-it, we don't care what he costs and grab him, MTL's gamble fails.

- TheTrob

I understand that aspect.

What I meant is, they make a handshake deal with Ovi to sign him after July 28 so they can pick another player from the Caps exposed list. Is it an either or proposition or could they conceivably pluck 2 players off a a teams exposed list?

But isn't no difference than teams making deals with the expansion team pre-draft? I mean isn't it all for the sake of helping team's cap situation in the end?

I didn't completely understand the reasoning, but there was more than one article stating that the league would not allow this particular transaction to take place. Price also holds a NMC and could himself block a trade back to MTL. It bears watching as his wife is from that area and he's from BC, I believe.

Since Blowman has given the Russian oaf a QO, does anyone know the following:

- has the oaf filed for arbitration? (if he does/has -- then he cannot sign another offer from another club, he is restricted to re-signing with the Hawks)

- if the oaf has filed, IMO then Blowman is screwed as the new deal is likely to be under the amount where Blowman can simply walk away. Only player-elected arbitration comes with walk-away rights for the team. Last year, awards higher than $4,538,958 carry walk-away rights in this offseason. Under that amount, team was screwed and had to pony up. I don't see an arb award of over $4.5M so Blowman would be forced to keep and pay up -- with no ability to trade him either based on the reports that he was being shopped.

- savvyone-1

When was he qualified? If in the past couple of days is that allowed once the exposure list is submitted?

I believe the QOs are due the 26th of July.

I really this related to Gaudette's stomach illness (overgrowth of Candida in his stomach) while Kampf is healthy, long and decent in the dot.

Carey Price Shea Weber and a host of the marquee named (unhealthy, skating wounded, planning surgery, penis extension and possible retirement to use the new- found lease on life...you have think they ploy is to make Seattle think fast in other directions due to age and quick name recognition.
(and sure Gaudette is less "hurt" than the big fish.)

I am truly curious just how many established teams made side deals.

and maybe gaudette is protected under the table?

and you are correct, sir, neither brings us the Cup.

Because Hino is going to skate circles around the opposition, and once Gaudette puts on 10-20 pounds he'll be a stud.

Seattle to likely take Zadorov per Andy Strickland. The Hawks were unsuccessful in their attempts to move him prior to yesterday.
- TommyHawk

I don't know about that. Didn't Francis build the vaunted Carolina defense? Why would he want Zadorov?

Maybe to flip him to one of the teams that Bowman couldn't strike a deal with? It's possible that the Kraken would be satisfied with whatever the return offer was that Stan turned down.

I don't know. We can dream can't we?

The players available from us is got to be very underwhelming for the Kraken. Of all the players available deHaan is the closest thing resembling an NHL player. Id take him play him sparingly and trade him at the deadline hoping he can stay healthy.

Wasn't it Francis who brought in deHaan when he was gm in Carolina

Boiler and BTD, you are both correct - I thought I had read that Blowman had already made the QO to the oaf. Apparently not the case so maybe there is still a chance (cue the GIF).

I was thinking
Cat, Borgstrom, Kane
Suter was not a bad option there either last year

Kubs, Toews, Hagel, so Toews doesn't have to work as hard

????, Dach, Suter

Nylander
Strome
Reichel
Kurashev

Looks like spaces are running out for Strome and Nylander

Yeah, if Borgstrom is able to play as advertised, Strome is superfluous. Ideally Hagel is on the 3rd line, but there really isn't a lot in front of him that would deserve it over him.

Per Pierre LeBrun:
FWIW, for those pondering the idea of Seattle selecting Price only to trade him back to Montréal, the Habs throwing picks/assets at Seattle for the Kraken to retain salary, etc: the NHL has informed both clubs that is a total no-go. League considers that a clear circumvention.

Also:

Told that Carey Price is scheduled to see a doc in New York this week regarding a knee issue which could potentially lead to surgery. The hope is that it’s not too serious.

As
@frank_seravalli
reported, I also believe Price will have his hip checked out. But the potential surgery I’m told is knee related
